Gers1690 194
I wouldn't even want that to happen... We'd struggle to beat Hibernian at present, and that's saying something!

alprod 13
I've been checking out various websites and thinking about what people are saying while at the same time watching what the authorities are doing and there is actually a possibility that we could be in the SPL this coming season!!! How?The giveaway is the order of the day at Friday's meeting of the SFL clubs. There are presently 30 clubs in the SFL and for the Gers to be voted in one of those teams would have to move up to the SPL, leaving a free place for us. However the whole order is totally mixed up, creating a situation which could work to our advantage. The first article is the vote to decide if the Gers should join the SFL. If successful, as almost seems sure, there will be 31 teams in the SFL, which is one too many.Secondly, the rabid clubs can go and fuck themselves as the board can vote us into D1 if they get enough bribes from the SPL. So now there are 11 teams in Division 1.Now comes the bomb. Dunfermline or Dundee must apply to resign from the SFL and have their application to the SPL accepted. Should neither of them do so then it will move down to the next club. If this was such a foregone conclusion then why was this not sorted out at the beginning? Perhaps because the tiny diddies will get nice little bribes to refuse their resignations and it will come down to asking us if we want to resign and be promoted. The SPL want it even though they won't admit it, and the SFA are just shiting themselves to keep us up for the benefit of their precious TV deal. Even if we finish last in the league we will not be relegated as they have promised reorganisation for the following season so we will not go down. One season on, we shall have the money to set up a competitive team and by the end of the Euroban will be back to where we were.Sky will be happy, the diddies and the Tims will have to grin and bear it and we save fotball in Scotland from suicide. One season of pain; I think it would be worth paying. Did bomber tell you this had been leaked to him?

Slight flaw in your argument is that Dunfermline and Dundee are fighting over the chance to play SPL next year, why are they going to suddenly say "we'll not bother applying". JCS 649
Certainly, if the SFL reject the proposal to place us in Division 1 it opens a vertitable Pandora's Box.Either the SFA/SPL accept the decision and concur with the SFL decision to place us in Division 3 or they repudiate it in favour of some other - obviously unlawful - arrangement. If they withold cntractual monies due then watch the SFL clubs rush to the courts - yes, the courts that we were roundly criticised for going to. Thereafter, I suspect we are really looking at SFA/SPL 'meltdown.'I suspect that Regan and Doncaster are really piling on the pressure at the moment, and I don't envy David Longmuir his position. He has already compromised himself in the eyes of many SFL chairmen and he can't afford to stick his neck out any further. Will the SPL 2 threat come to pass and, if so, how will the SFL react? Friday is going to be an interesting day.
Shetland 76
Your logic makes no sense, yes there will be 31 SFL clubs... but Dundee or Dunfermline (probably Dundee) will be going up.
