mrmytto 220
My laptop has been playing up for a while, so i did the restore to earlier image thing or whatever it's called... Or at least I was doing that and half way through my laptop switched off,now when I turn it on it says 'missing operating system' and I would do a restore but it won't let me as part of the hard drive has been partitioned to a restore thing if you getme? How could I fix this?
JM1872 3,714
Is there no option anywhere to do a factory default restore? which puts the system right back to the way it was when you first turned it on?On my old laptop I kept getting the blue screen of death for months whenever it was doing more than it could handle. I bit the bullet and did a full restore and it worked fine afterwards. Obviously I lost everything that was on it.EDIT - Or, google "laptop missing operating system" and have a look at some of the answers on there etc. I had a quick look there and there's talk of sending it away to companies that specialise in "getting data from dead drives". mrmytto 220
I've pressed F9 when I turned it on this time and I got something about Windows Set Up EMS or something - whatever that means - so I've clicked it as I'm out of options. I think it's just restoring to default settings now, what a great day I'll have today getting all my programs back.
mrmytto 220
Also, when I plug my iPhone in - once I have iTunes again - how do I get everything from the phone onto iTunes or will it do it automatically? I don't want to lose everything on my phoned you see...

Pictures, music and apps etc will be saved on the phone and will load up under the "***** iPhone" tab at the left hand side in iTunes. Also, if you had an Apple Store account through iTunes any purchases you have made will load in iTunes when you sign in to the Store. I think it's very unlikely you will lose anything from your phone mate. You can't, however, drag your music files back into the default iTunes library from your phone. There is a way to do this but it's extremely technical

Only when you delete it from your phone or under the iPhone tab when connected to iTunes will you lose stuff from your phone... unless something gets fucked up and you lose something by accident.Just make sure that when you do re-connect your iPhone to iTunes for the first time, if any pop-up messages appear make sure you read them and chose the correct option. You may get a message saying something like "this is the first time you have connected this device to this computer" bla bla bla. You can also create a back up file on your phone which saves everything and creates a back-up copy but nothing should be deleted/removed from your phone anyway Out of interest, have you any other iOS products (iPod touch, iPad etc) and used "iCloud" before? The police came but they weren't interested in a £1700 crime, my dad kept hassling them and he had to tell them to get the phones blacklisted and had went around phone shops etc in the area to circulate the IMEI numbers before the police had even considered it. Useless sums them up!!

I lost my phone a few months ago on the way home from a night out, and my bank card funnily enough - smashin' night!Anyway I phoned T-Mobile about the phone cause it was a contract and they blacklisted it and locked the phone. The polis did half as much! It got handed in right enough so I went to get it, it was fucked anyway. If you's had a contract you could have phoned the service provider to blacklist it and locked it

O2 just stopped the phones from being used within the UK, they didn't mention black listing them I don't think. At least you got it back I guess, I was £500 down It was my birthday the day beforehand so I had birthday money to replace it, still not great though!!
