ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
A JAPANESE journalist who travelled 6000 miles for a Rangers match only for the game to be called off was yesterday treated to a VIP tour of Ibrox.Daisuke Nakajima hit the headlines this week after he discovered the Elgin City clash had been postponed on safety grounds – 10 minutes into his train journey to the Highlands. The club have since been fined £25,000 for selling 1100 extra tickets for the Third Division clash.Rangers read about Daisuke’s plight and invited him to Ibrox for a tour yesterday and to Sunday’s William Hill Scottish Cup clash against Elgin.Daisuke, 33, said: “I have been to Ibrox as a journalist for Old Firm games and Uefa Cup games but I have never had a tour before. It was fantastic and the trophy room was very impressive.“I am looking forward to Sunday’s match – but I hope Rangers have not sold too many tickets.”Daisuke, who flew into Scotland on Friday, still got a story for Footballista magazine from his trip.He interviewed Elgin fans for a feature – but the assignment was not an easy one. Daisuke said: “It was hard to find an Elgin supporter as everyone seemed to support Celtic or Rangers.” Football writer flies from Japan to cover Elgin v Rangers match.. and hears it's postponed on train to stadiumA Rangers spokeswoman said: “We are delighted Daisuke extended his trip and accepted our invitation to the Elgin game.“He is no stranger to Ibrox, having covered many games here in the past, and everyone at the club looks forward to welcoming him here again this weekend.”Daisuke, 33, spent four years in Scotland covering the exploits of Celtic star Shunsuke Nakamura.
