For the Manchester game I dug out my oldest scarf which dates from the 1960's and my wife washed it carefully to make sure the white fringes were not damaged. Came up fine with all the writing intact. I met an old guy in Manchester wearing the same scarf as me and one or two others who recognised it's age.Remember to let everyone know if the wash went well.
