The Canadian came on in the second half against the Bully Wee in the Irn-Bru Third Division match at Ibrox on Saturday.

And the 18-year-old, who replaced Emilson Cribari, assisted Ally McCoist's team to keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win.

It was the defender's first competitive appearance for the Glasgow club and he is hoping it is not the last.

He said: "It was an unbelievable day. To make my league debut just days after I'd played my first game against Linfield was great for me.

"It was a great week for me and I was very happy to get the opportunity. Even just being on the bench was a big step forward for me.

"To get half the game in front of more than 44,000 fans at Ibrox was such a great feeling and playing against Linfield first definitely helped me prepare for that.

"The title has been won and hopefully the gaffer will continue to give the young boys a chance.

"It's good for us to get games and experience as it gives us a taste of what it's like and what we're all pushing for next season.

"I am hoping I can continue to at least make the squad and getting on and getting some game time as well would be ideal.

"There are a few reserve games left as well so there's lots of football still to be played and I'll be ready if the opportunity comes."

Gasparotto was denied a debut goal against Clyde when his powerful header was brilliantly saved by Jamie Barclay.

The teenager is hopeful that, despite Chris Hegarty being available again after suspension and Ross Perry close to full fitness, he will get the chance to open his account soon.

Gasparotto told RangersTV: "I thought it was in. I made a good connection with the ball and I thought it was going in the top corner so I was away celebrating.

"It was a good save though, and just being part of the squad and making the bench was enough for me. So playing as well was a bonus."

Meanwhile, Gers boss McCoist has heaped praise on the club's youth coaches after a host of graduates made their mark for the club this season.

As well as Gasparotto, Andy Murdoch, Ryan Sinnamon, Danny Stoney, Charlie Telfer and Alan Smith all appeared on the bench for the Light Blues on Saturday.

And with first-team favourites Perry, Andy Little, Robbie Crawford, Kyle Hutton, Barrie McKay, Hegarty, Lewis Macleod and Fraser Aird coming through the Murray Park youth ranks in recent times, McCoist is thrilled with the talent on show.

He said: "It's brilliant we've been able to play so many of them.

"Jim Sinclair and his boys up at Murray Park deserve an awful lot of credit for that and for preparing the lads in the right way.

"Circumstances have obviously dictated a lot of them have got to play when they possibly wouldn't have normally.

"With that said, the fact 19 of them have been on the park to some extent for us is still terrific for this club.

"Saturday gave us another great opportunity to get some of the younger boys on and it was a chance for them to make a real mark."

I thought he looked good when he came on, will hopefully get a start at the weekend.

Sounds keen as well, its a pitty we have put loads of other square pegs in a round hole at CB this season and not this lad.

He is really good in Football Manager as well so thats always a good sign. lol

I was happy for the kid, but one thing in the interview i did not want to read:

'Jim Sinclair and his boys up at Murray Park deserve an awful lot of credit for that and for preparing the lads in the right way'.

i'm basing this on Elf's blog. He doesnt rate Sinclair at all, but reads like Ally is trying to back is buddy here

Think seb faure and him is tjhe way forward. Seb looked a different player, composed, aware and flawless.

And Faure is one the most improved players this season, hopefully he and Gas can form a good partnership for next year.
