coopsleftboot 5,512
Quote Rangers’ colt teams league reconstruction plan looks set to be kicked out on Wednesday. Gers want clubs to vote for a new 14-14-18 set-up which would see Old Firm kids teams play in the bottom tier. SPFL will hold board meeting to discuss Rangers' paperCredit: Kenny Ramsay - The Sun Glasgow But it’s understood the proposal will fail to get the backing it needs. Ibrox chiefs believe the idea would give their best young players invaluable experience of professional football. But there’s a concern among some other top-flight clubs that their academies would be at a disadvantage. Gers’ bid is backed by celtic and would be worth £1.2million to lower league outfits over four years. This option props up the game from the bottom by injecting a sizeable sum into each division up front, with each club being further bolstered by higher attendances throughout when our colts team visit. Many lower league clubs have their own youth set-ups which would desperately welcome additional funding and support (speaking from experience), and this could only help grow the game from that level upwards. And with colts (or B-teams) good enough for many of the big leagues across Europe with great success,....and then you come to Scotland, where our game is hamstrung by self-interest and jealousy. No wonder we've a below average national team and a gigglesworth administration and league set up.

Just read that another proposal for reconstruction is being propounded by SPFL namely a 4 tier structure with 14-10-10-10 this was the suggestion from (as far as I know) from Peterhead, now decision on this is expected on Monday!!!!
