Saudibear 0
In virtually every game played there are controversial offside decisions. Is there a case for doing away with the offside rule all together? It would avoid judgement calls as to interfering with play as in last nights CL semi final. Probably half the refs would have let Essien's goal stand It would take away the controversial mistakes that are regularly made by assistant refs. It would take cheating bastards like Murphy out of the equation where all his misjudged calls seam to favour the Pish Stained Paedos F.C. from the East end. In other words it would remove inconsistencies from the game. What if anything do you believe the offside rule adds to the game? Discuss.
dummiesoot 16,034
Remember goal poachers at school that would stand near the goalie the whole game because there was no offside? That is what would happen if you removed offside. Cunts like Murphy would just find another way to cheat us anyway.

bluebells-r-blue 8
During the 70's there was a line between the 18yard line and half way line where you couldn't be caught offside, this was done during the Dryburgh cup. I think this lasted 2 seasons then abandoned. No offside rule, definitly schoolboy stuff, 2 goalies and with big punts up the park an 20 attackers chasing the ball back and forward, Never mind there would be plenty of goals though, imagine games of 14-13 every week.... We used to call them tit-liners and they were a hated breed, because none of them were good enough to play 'out'. Saudi: Essien's goal was definitely offside, you can't have 4 players in an offside position and let the goal stand, even without being in the line of sight, they are still distracting the goalie. Oh and well done the Blues let's hope they can stick it to ManUre in the final :unionflag:
docspiderman 1,243
Should go back to the offside rule before the FIFA theorists made a bollocks of it. If a player is in an offside position he is offside- no more active or inactive, first or second stage, interfering with play etc--- if he is in an offside position flag for offside--KEEP IT SIMPLE! J-Maestro 11,288
We got screwed with the new offside rule in the CL did we not once?
Stardog 11
Just get it back to the old way. ANYONE who's between the keeper and the defender when the ball is struck, whether it's being passed to him or not, is offside. Free kick. This stupid gray area where it comes down to a linesman's opinion on whether he was interfering or not is stupid. We got screwed with the new offside rule in the CL did we not once? We got screwed against Villareal. The goal was literally undefendable. Our defence did their job and stayed in a line, yet the stupid rule fucked us over.
