I know there is not alot of width in this team but i feel that as our delivery from the wings is usually poor, we should play to our strengths. Broadfoot and Papac usually overlap so that does give us a bit of width in attack.

Id play a 4-3-2-1. Even though only miller would be upfront, i think the creativity of Davis and Beasley/Aaron/Lafferty ( haven't made up my mind) would provide lots of chances for him, and of course Mendes and fergie would create as well.

My favourite thing about this formation is that it allows Mendes, Ferguson, Thomson and Davis to all play, and in roles which they are suited to.

Have a diamond midfield with Fergie sitting, dictating the play from there, possibly swap Mendes and Davis to be the link between the strikers and Thomson harrying and being the ball winner in midfield. Have Broadfoot and Papac bombing down the wings and then if one loses the ball then Ferguson can slot into that position as he wouldnt be that far forward. Or you could swap Thomson and Ferguson which allows Fergie to dictate but just a bit further forward.

I believe Ferguson has quite a few years left in him, and with him having had a much-needed break from the sheer physicality of football he will come back a better player than he's been for years.
