England hammered today by an Australian team which suddenly looked like World champions again.

Tough winter coming up for England with the tours to play Pakistan in the UAE and South Africa, unless they find some consistency those tours could be turn out to be a nightmare.

As much as I'm enjoying us cruise against England on Day 1 in Abu Dhabi, I really wish this was in Pakistan. It's a testament to the quality of the Pakistan national team that even in the face of some of the most trying circumstances faced by any sporting team in history, they are undefeated in the UAE in test matches.

Mo Hafeez about to knock a century after being dropped on 7 by Ian Bell. Malik on 67 but also looking good for a century in his first game back in test cricket after 5 years in the wilderness.

Certainly looks like a very placid pitch to say the least...Good day for Pakistan..Bell looked a bit like his Cousin Cammy in the slips today!!?? :P

Always the case in Abu Dhabi, win the toss and bat first and you're already on your way to winning the test. It'll reverse and turn which suits our bowlers perfectly, England not so much.

Yasir Shah being injured is a huge, huge blow for us. The selectors fucked up and never selected another spinner so we've had to go with 1 specialist for this test.

England probably with more wickets than they deserved. Good day for Pakistan though.

The Misbah decision was a disgrace but that will continue to happen until the ICC bite the bullet and fund full DRS for international tours. They can't expect the poorer boards like us, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka to fund it, especially when we can't even play in our own country and so lose out on match day revenue, merchandise etc.

No snicko or hot spot meant that the third umpire could have only given that out because he heard something on the stump mike

Utterly bizarre decision which only undermines the whole concept of DRS, which has probably the best thing to happen to cricket in terms of making the game fair.

I only got to watch a wee bit of this whilst at my work today..Was the time wasting by Pakistan really that bad??..Or did England take too long to get the required total for the victory.??..

Only see the highlights but the time wasting thing is a nonsense, every team in Pakistan's shoes would do the same thing.

I love the coverage on Sky but the only thing that spoils it is that clown Coville who does the verdict,he tried to whip up a controversy about Pakistan's slow play during the run chase but even his fellow Englishmen Cork and Willis weren't having it.

But the day belong to Rashid who showed real guts and a fair bit of skill to bounce back and take 5 for after the way he bowled in the first innings.

They bowled 11 overs in an hour. Slow, yes, but not anything any other team in the world wouldn't do. They're just trying to whip up some controversy for the next test.

Every single former player I've saw comment on it (including Swann and other ex England players) saying it's a non-issue, it's all part of the game.

Captain nearly fucked it for Pakistan. They were cruising to the draw before he decided to try and smash Moeen to row z.

Good final day, hopefully there will be a little more in the pitch in Dubai, because Sharjah is another road.

Dubai is another important toss. It will spin from day 3 but day 1 is usually good for batting. Day 2 the ball starts to seam around, still decent for batting but harder.

Will be a good test.
