Gerrard reportedly in for Tav and Goldson
left winger replied to esquire8's topic in Jimmy Bell's Kitroom
In the future, Diomande and Sterling will leave this club and go to another club, and hopefully we will get millions for them. Now I’d be stunned if that was this summer, but if we got offered £10m for Butland, £10m for Diomande (not sure if we’d be allowed to sell - seem to remember something about more than 2 clubs in a year) and £10m for Sterling I’d definitely sell one (the easiest one to replace), and possibly two of them. Doubt I’d sell all three. -

Again, just making shite up - now with your 'unknown clobber' patter. No one is saying to flog Diomande or Sterling. As I've said before, if there's no one coming in with millions to spend, we need to sell to progress. Now, I don't know anyone who wants to sell Butland, but if we did and got in another 2 or 3 with the potential of Diomande and Sterling Cortes, then that makes perfect sense. -

Don’t talk rubbish. Not one person has said, nor implied - ‘let’s get loads of money for Butland, or other players, and use it to buy bang average players.’ Any comments are about using the money for Clement to rebuild. If, however, you’re happy with the squad we’ve got, and don’t think we need to move players on and get new ones in (unlike every successful club in the world), then your thoughts on selling players make perfect sense. -

Obviously, no one’s suggesting using money from the sale of Butland to buy players of that calibre. But yes, unless someone with loads of money to burn buys the club, selling players at their highest/a high value needs to be part of our strategy. -

We won because we beat every team we played. That’s the reality. -

I’m pretty sure we don’t, I wasn’t really and, no, it isn’t. -

We literally won the only domestic trophy completed this season with that defence and half the midfield. Or does hyperbole now mean totally ignoring facts. -
He was bang average, with a big personality. Probably wouldn’t be the worst player to have in our squad, atm, tbh.
-
I’ve watched it about 10 times, hoping I can see something to suggest he didn’t dive and isn’t an embarrassment. But nope.

I can’t believe that Clement doesn’t know what other players in the squad may be good at free kicks. If it’s not an area he’s looked at, he’s not doing his job right. If he has and there are others who are better in training, but aren’t getting a chance in a game, he’s not doing his job right.
-
So he hasn’t been good all season 🤷 This season has been like every other season he’s had with us- very good for a spell, very poor for a spell, very good for a spell, etc.

“I don’t know if the belief is there”

Well, for starters their captain doesn’t. But if they did, does that mean the other players don’t have to put their bodies on the line? Are they not big enough to man up without their captain doing so first? -
That Liverpool thing can’t be real.

I don’t think we’ve done it on purpose. If you’re a new manager coming into the club, you’ll assess the squad, and despite his defensive shortcomings (which aren’t as bad as are often made out) you’d quickly move past him to worry about other things. Re forward players and goals - looking purely at stats Sima, Dessers and Danilo (when fit) aren’t too bad. Our goalscoring issues, imo, are much more problematic throughout the rest of the team. Our defenders, apart from Tav, don’t score and our midfielders barely score. And apart from a couple from Matondo recently our wingers don’t score either. It’s quite ironic that two of the players who get the most abuse are our top two goals and assists contributors.

No, Tav and Goldson aren’t, but tbf to them, they’re also not surrounded by the character of players that those who you’ve mentioned were surrounded by. Greig had players like Sandy Jardine and Alex MacDonald beside him. Butcher had Stevens, Souness, Wilkins, etc Gough had Stuart McCall, McCoist, Goram, etc. Ferguson had Moore, McCann, de Boer, etc. Stick that calibre (talent and mentality) in with those two and you get totally different results. As leaders there not up to the standard required, but Tav, for example, is still the best, or second best, in the squad. -
What does Tav have on our managers? Really? You can’t work out why Tav has played so many games for us in his time here?

*****Champions League 23/24 Thread*****
left winger replied to ForeverAndEver's topic in General Football & Sport
One of my boy’s mates was at the game with his school, and they did it for the semifinal last year, as well. Games like that and City can’t fill their stadium with their own fans. It’s great for kids to see that kind of match live, but their fans are shit. -
We’re not going to lose the league because Yilmaz is out injured, but he’s one of several players, we’d be better off having fully fit.

So £66k and for that they were able to invest far more in their playing squad than their rivals, which got them into the top 6 and subsequently more money via prize money, gate money, etc. That’s them told 🤷 -
If so, at least you’re true to your word, I suppose.
-
Don’t know if you got tickets for Sunday. If you did, make sure you pass them on to someone who cares if we win, or not.

Did admin advertise for a new forum mongo this week, and this is your interview? I, and all Rangers supporters (well, almost all, apparently) want to win all three domestic trophies every season. We all know the league is the most important one, but that for all Rangers supporters (well, almost all, apparently) doesn’t mean we don’t care about the other trophies. I hope I’ve said that simply enough for you to understand?
-
I remember being at Hampden in 1989 and we lost the final to them after winning the league and league cup and you’re telling me that we didn’t care. Fuck up.

Welcome to Rangers, Philippe Clement!

Not wrong, tbh, but like Goldson after the semi-final against Hibs - why would you come out and say it?
