  1. Thought the same, if only for wanting something other than the usual midgets getting bullied by shite and run over. Then I remember that Kiernan is utterly hopeless at everything. Not being able to tackle is a bit of a disadvantage for a midfielder.
  2. Have we tried him at right-back yet? Seriously, he's not good enough and doesn't give the impression that he's interested in getting better. For someone who seems to actually do the hard training that the manager talks about incessantly, it all seems to be about putting on bulk and muscle. He came on as a sub a few games back and looked comical trying to run. Garner earned a bit of respect last night for not surrendering like the rest of them. Him alongside Dodoo can't be worse than the pointlessness of the current setup.
  3. The scariest part of tonight for me. Lots of teams sit back and happily watch us go nowhere with 70% possession, knowing that there's a good chance it will work for them. To see it turn to that complete shambles when the opposition do decide to get the ball back...
  4. Not in a mood to hear him find excuses or deflect from what we all saw tonight, let alone the usual 'learning' pish. I can't see what he can or will change to make that pressure go away now. He has a pathetic record against the teams that he'd want to think of as being our closest competitors, last season included, despite having better resources. If he can't or won't change such a turgid team with the advantages he has, he should go.
  5. One of the stranger things about MW's failure, for someone so obviously intelligent and thoughtful about football, is the difference in what he says and what we can all see happening on the pitch. When did we last press an opposition? It's been a myth for longer than the few months last year when it was a real thing to appreciate.
  6. Perfectly stated. Constant talk of 'not doing what we do well' is a lie - we do nothing well. Meek, weak and pointlessness dressed up as 'progressive'.
  7. Even the possession and pitch geography KPI's will be a bastard tonight!
  8. He sends out players who are obviously mentally and physically too weak for the jersey, with instructions that they evidently can't implement - if they even understand them in the first place. Just go.
  9. That MW's mantra of us "not doing what we're good at" of the past umpteen months is more pish management speak or evidence that he just doesn't now what he's doing?
  10. Don't make him angry...you wouldn't like him when he's angry...
  11. An undeniable truth, made worse by the insistence on making such limited players try to play in a way that exposes them so badly.
  12. But, but, but...WILL SOMEBODY THINK OF THE POSSESSION STATS!!!
  13. Allow me - we're passing the ball about, barely able to control it before going mostly backwards...do that for two minutes before losing it and making Ross County look like they invented the dangerous counter-attack...repeat for a season
  14. Pathetic...this is the limit of these players, a collective Homer Simpson brain fart, unable to attack with any organisation, worse at closing down or tackling.
  15. Still mince at concentrating for any length of time then...
  16. This is the night when we finally lull the opposition into a false sense of security, I can feel it - they'll think they can sit and watch a million passes to nowhere, defend deep with nobody to mark, aim for Kiernan with long punts... Waghorn will become the winger he's never realised he can be, Wallace flying down the left to whip countless, beautiful crosses onto Miller's head, Kenny putting any doubts about him being our best penalty-box poacher to rest. 8-0.
  17. I agree that it's the manager who continues to ask him to play as the holding midfielder when he clearly has no proper defensive instincts, made worse by the supposed defenders he plays in front of. But he's far from the worst of our problems, has composure and can at least control the ball for long enough to pass to a teammate. His tackling and closing down is no less inept than anyone else we have. If there's two places left in a midfield three, I'd still pick him just now.
  18. Wonder if they ever make it successfully to the other side?
  19. Pffft, a recipe for giving the ball away, sacrificing precious possession. Can you imagine the carnage in our rock-solid defence if we were to risk giving SPFL opposition the chance to wreak havoc with their silky skills? 65% possession at a minimum, preferably sideways, thankyouverymuch!
  20. We don't get "stuck in" either, and have perfected the ability to leave lots of space to be exploited anyway. And of all of our faults, some a consequence of trying to be more "modern", I agree, shutting down opposition players is one of the worst. We're awful at it.
  21. Mckay as a right-winger, where he wouldn't have to constantly stop and bring everything to a walking pace, would be a different thing. We'll need to agree to disagree about Waghorn looking comfortable out there. He's not quick or skilful enough for me but built for the central role. Ineffectiveness at centre forward is more a symptom of the way we play than any given player, I feel.
