Recommended Posts

Juan Roman Riquelme has agreed to join Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

The Argentinian playmaker is looking to leave current club Villarreal before the close of the transfer window on Friday.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Boca Juniors and has revealed he would play for the club for free, if he could secure a return.

Riquelme was also interesting Tottenham, but the former Barcelona schemer looks set to stay in Spain.

Reports suggest Atletico have agreed a deal with Villarreal, with Riquelme accepting a two-year contract.

An option for a further 12 months has also been included in the package, although there is yet to be an official comment on the transfer by either club.

he'd be a great signing for them.
