  1. I know where you're coming from mate.. I would only say that Walter would not leave the club to someone he didn't trust? Otherwise, he'd work for nothing until we found a proper manager? I think we need to give Walter the benefit of the doubt here... (Not sold on Ally either.. but let's face it, Wattie knows him inside/out). Better than anyone here -- and certainly better than me.
  2. Excellent points mate.. But can I add? They will be out of the SPL running come December -- and perhaps battling Hearts/Aberdeen/Dundee UTD for what might be 5th? lol This is a realistic scenario... What motivation do the Johnny Foreigners have now? No Europe, no fuck all. Lovin' it. Roll on #54/55/56/57/58/59/60 Bury them NOW Rangers. This is a golden opportunity!
  3. I'm sure we all have great admiration for Davie Weir. A man of intelligence, a gentleman. After the Hibs match he put his arms around young Vladimir and I'm sure said a few words of congratulations to him. And as for representing The Rangers -- you find any finer man. if you re-read the 'Traditions' thread -- many of the traditions that were raised.. Excellence, Honour, Respect... can all be applied to Davie. But my point today is that Davie -- once again -- has answered his nation's call. At 40 years old, he has every right to politely decline. But not Davie. I quote: (Official site) A great man -- has always made himself available for his country. And proud to do so. And he's a great Rangers Captain. Proud to see him leading us out -- and he better be made Captain of Scotland too! Well done David Weir.
  4. ok looks like he can play in the last 16. thx
  5. Haven't found this anywhere so apologies if already posted... Can he play in the last 16?
  6. True mate... like most, I think we do much better against the best teams. I expect Valencia to be extremely hard.. ManU? Of course.. and the Turkish side will be no pushovers. Can't see how this is an 'easy' group tbh. I'm glad it's tough. But we need to make teams fear coming to IBROX. We need to get off to good starts and not wait for Walter's half time 'talk'.
  7. Honestly believe everyone will drop points in Turkey. Wide open if you ask me.. ManU to win the group.. but second is clearly there to grab.
  8. This! As much as it is fun to have a laugh... Let's wait a wee bit. A strong. committed performance at Old Trafford is a good start. I can take defeat if we do the jersey proud... But I'm expecting competitive performances -- in every single (CL) match this season. Then we can have a dig?
  9. Bears.. he is on 3.5 Million Euros a year -- after taxes. That's 55 Grand (Pounds) per week. But... someone needs to pay the tax right? So lets say there is a way to defer payments, or tax avoidance.. so up it by 30%. That's 71K Pounds per week. Ouch! Or we're in it for 5-10 years @ ??? Not good. Non starter.
  10. Aye but the only grip UEFA want is the grip on the cash. They cannot be interested in developing Football where it needs to be developed? We need to get kids off of the arses and into the streets/parks playing the beautiful game. Limiting investment and economic rewards to the SAME countries defies fair play imho. Flies in the face of it. Bottom line? Is their bottom line. That's all that counts. Not kids, not wee countries like ours... none of it.
  11. You make an obvious point mate.. :-) The rich get richer.. and us? We will struggle to compete. How can a team that finishes fourth in the EPL qualify for the CHAMPIONS League? Qualifier or not. It's all about money -- that is clear. There will always be Euro Fitba' for us. Perhaps not just in the overhyped CL. I like your point that we can bring thru youth and have them play in the Europa. Not a lot of money to be made from that -- but we always want to win. And it's always difficult to have a balance of.. Being competitive .. and giving youth the chance they need.
  12. Mate.. It's you that's mad! :-) There is no comma between Ronaldinho and Gaucho. He just didn't highlight it properly. Or, a very poor copy and paste effort... Ah details....
  13. Some of the names in display in that tie. We were pretty good! Must be said. Highlight? Big Amo's penalty!
  14. That's the attitude of a Rangers man.. right there! :21: :21: What's this 'hopefully' finishing 3rd shite! Bring on the best!
  15. One question... WHY would he come to the SPL? CL then what.. he f*cks off? Seriously... Wouldn't mind him tbh.. if the finances are right -- but he needs to be 100% committed to the cause. Can't see it.
  16. Kenny is looking for his last BIG contract. God knows it won't happening at Ibrox! I am surprised he was offered reduced terms. I would have given the same money for 2 years -- with an option for a 3rd.. He's a bit injury prone, & getting older.. and we can't shell out the money he prob wants anyway. But if its security.. I imagine we're only a few grand a week off of what he's making now -- which is what approx 20 grand a week? Good life eh? So he should sign.
  17. Agreed mate. I love watching the draw when The Rangers are in it. Something magical mixing it with the Euro elite. Makes me so damn proud! (Or make that even MORE proud than usual!)
  18. Good points mate. I wonder though on the Barazite one... perhaps Arsenal had demands we were unable to meet -- or unwilling. Such as x% of matches he has to play in etc. As for Kenny -- I just have a feeling that we're going to punt him since we bought Niko. Of course, Kenny is in the form of his life.. but... can he go the distance? Perhaps we will look back and say we punted him at the best possible time? So, as with anything... you can make it seem anyway you wish. But Camoranesi again, gives us something we are currently lacking. So minus Kenny PLUS Niko PLUS Camoranesi ... Are we a better side? I'd think so... especially in Europe. (We'd stroll the SPL as well) So far, I like what we have done in the transfer window. We're not jumping at any player.. just intent on getting the ones we want. A sensible strategy -- at any time.
  19. There is a great interview on the RangersTV site with Dado -- about an hour or so. Just sign up and you can probably watch it for free. Very recent. Speaks about being a mechanic and training at night -- for the love of the game. He thought his life was perfect at that point. Very humble man. True gentleman. Mr. Struth would have been proud.
  20. Aye mate. Someone else posted something similar.. We have qualifying -- but it's the Champions route.. not the route ra shellick would face (that's if they even get into the qualifiers.. not at all sure). And agreed... Motherwell 'should' win. From what I saw of that match last week.. they were somewhat unlucky -- and seemed to have a fair amount of chances as well.
  21. Figure Walter will get what he wants. Chelsea, Real and FC Twente. It's already in the bag to go thru. Home: Chelsea - Draw, Real - Shock win.. Big Niko with an injury time winner in an unbelievable 4-3 match Twente - Weiss dominates the match. GERS 3-0 FC Twente. Away? Chelsea - Shock draw Real -- Dodgy call by the linesman to give Real an offside goal -- Typical Twente. Draw. We end up on 9 PTS in second place. Real 3rd. EASY!
  22. Cheers mate. I'm just a political bastard at heart! Ah well... Bain makes a great point... But I think if 'Well beat Odense.. then we are above Denmark in the Co-Efficient -- and that helps. And, of course, after we win the CL.. would we still have a Co-Efficient issue? lol Now that's dreaming! But it's nice.
  23. Mr. Bain makes perfect sense here... It's not just the clubs going down.. what about the economy? OK.. it's not a fortune -- but trying telling that to Hotels/Restaurants/Pubs/Taxis etc. I've not seen it played like this. Full credit to Mr. Bain here. Put some pressure on. Folk think the OF can afford not to be in Europe. The OF will always survive... but the folk than run businesses etc. that get a bounce off of Euro nights.. tell them they don't need it and nothing will be done to ensure the OF will remain competitive. It's a hard one of course. But the culture change he speaks of is what? Kids today are rooted to video games all over the world -- where there are such devices. It's like cooking. All of the best cooking comes from poor countries. Why? You have to cook. Not pay for McDonalds. We need to get kids out playing Football -- end of story. Actually, we need to get kids out of the house -- for a start. It's a global issue. Nice one Mr. Bain. He has really performed well as of late!
