  1. Walter Smith was constantly lambasted on here for playing players out of position at left midfield......yet now we have a half-decent left winger some folk are desperate to play just about anyone other than him. Go figure huh!
  2. No big mystery...they hoped McKay would be fit enough to be included in the squad tonight. He's obviously not.
  3. Rangers: McGregor; Whittaker, Goian, Bocanegra, Papac; Ortiz, Davis, Edu, Wylde; Jelavic, Lafferty. Subs: Alexander, Perry, Healy, Broadfoot, Wallace, Bedoya, McCabe. Kilmarnock: Bell, Fowler, Kelly, Harkins, Kroca, Heffernan, Shiels, McKeown, Fisher, Pascali, Sissoko. Subs: Jaakkola, Hay, Silva, Dayton, Panikvar, Hutchison, Racchi Courtesy of Rangers.co.uk
  4. Now that the club have stated officially that Whittaker will NOT be leaving in this window, for Bursaspor or anywhere else, can we hope that we've seen the last "get the greedy @*#@ tae fuck now!" post on here? He's going nowhere, so get used to it!
  5. I don't think he's great defensively either, but he's better than anyone else on our books at RB, a decent stand-in at LB, and when asked to fill in at CB he let no-one down. All this from a player whose future is in midfield according to Walter Smith. On a slightly different note........I've tried and failed to find any direct quote either from the club, the player or his agent which mentions £20,000 a week. Was this figure merely plucked out of thin air by the press? Or is it a rumour which has become "fact" through being repeated so often on here?
  6. I agree 100% mate. So many on here accusing him of lack of loyalty, yet they don't want the club to show any loyalty to a player who has always given his best efforts. He's been one of our most important players over the last 2 seasons, as both Walter Smith and Ally McCoist have stated more than once. But of course they know nothing about football or the relative value of players to the club compared to the moaners on here! As for his repeated refusal to accept a new contract on what has been quoted to be £10,000 a week LESS than Bursaspor have offered him........he's a professional sportsman and will try to get paid as much as possible, just as the vast majority of people do in any other job.
  7. I don't believe a word of it. Are people so bored in the close season that they have to make up shite like this to keep themselves occupied? The new season can't come quickly enough so we can get back to some semblance of normality!
  8. I believe he was suspended for being actively involved in the release of a statement criticizing Craig Whyte and the new regime after the takeover was complete, therefore any claim for constructive dismissal will probably be doomed. However.....who knows what went on? No-one except those directly involved.
  9. No Scottish players will play for a GB Olympic football team, as some FIFA members could use it as a precedent in their campaign to unite the home nations under 1 GB banner. Olympic football has long been a joke, and these games are no different. It's one of the few sports that has been under-subscribed so far, because even the English know that a GB football team would be a sham.
  10. Which "reports" are these? Certainly hasn't been on SSN or any news websites so far. Or do you mean rumours?
  11. We've lost 2 players? No, we made a good offer to Hemed and he chose to go elsewhere. We didn't make an offer to Conway. If McCoist is set on signing Goodwillie we'll now up our offer, which is how transfer negotiations work. Personally I think we should stay well away from him anyway, he doesn't seem ready or mature enough to sign for Rangers.
  12. Who says we're not willing to meet the asking prices? It's called negotiating! No businessman worth his salt is going to start dealing by accepting the 1st price given.
  13. Luckily for Rangers, both our previous manager and our present manager disagree with you on Whittakers' talents. We are not going to have a big 1st-team squad therefore a player of Whittakers' versatility is one of our most valuable assets. He's now an established internationalist and if reports are to be believed he has been offered much higher wages to play his football in a better league than he is presently in. His agent is likely to have a much better idea of his market value than anyone on this forum, and is negotiating accordingly. I don't see the problem.
  14. Because they know he's leaving this summer perhaps? Why would they name him in the 25 when he's not going to be there?
  15. At last some sense! I'm getting mighty sick of all this doom and gloom about our so-called "lack of success" in the transfer market. We've refused to pay over the odds for players that would be no better than those we already have, and have shown selling clubs that we're onto them. As for Cuellar, if he doesn't make Villas' 25-man squad we'll get him for less than £3m so why rush in with the cash now? Isn't that how we got into such a mess financially in the first place?! Have some patience ffs!
  16. The reason agents are now seemingly indispensable to the vast majority of players is that in the past clubs stitched many players up, either with long binding contracts, low wages, or both. Plus, most players are thick as mince when it comes to legal matters and need someone with half a brain to act for them. Simples.
  17. Could the reason Whittaker is valued so highly by McCoist, and before him Walter Smith, be the fact that he is our most adaptable player? Last season he played at LB, RB, CB and both sides of midfield, and while he wasn't brilliant in any of these positions he did a job when asked. Smith and McCoist both said on numerous occasions last season that Whittakers' future is in midfield, and McCoist has stated twice in recent weeks that he is a "major part" of his plans for the team this season, therefore there should be no surprise at him being valued so highly. If he accepts the new offer he won't be the highest paid for long, as both McGregor and Davis are expected to be offered in the region of £20-£25k per week.
  18. Can someone just tell those of us interested in Rangers what Gordon Smith had to say?!
  19. In my view the problem with playing a GB team at the Olympics is the precedent it sets. Blatter and his sycophantic cronies have always wanted 1 national team from Britain and will use any opportunity to forward their cause, especially given that Scotland backed Englands bid to have FIFA investigated. No-one should underestimate the lengths Blatter will go to for revenge.
  20. Where did I suggest I have any love for the tartan army? I know many Rangers fans who follow Scotland and don't boo any anthems, which goes to show that being a member of the tartan army is not a prerequisite for following Scotland. Like nearly all football teams, including Rangers, Scotland have many decent fans and a few idiots, but still the ill-informed tend to lump all their fans together as "tartan army". As for FIFA giving written confirmation of our autonomy, I couldn't care less if it was written in Blatters own blood. It's still worthless and will be binned whenever the need arises. We're talking about one of the most corrupt organizations in existence, not a word they utter can be believed.
  21. I couldn't give a flying fuck about rep. I'm rarely on here these days, largely because of the high numbers of seemingly illiterate numb-skulls posting shite while masquerading as Rangers supporters.
