  1. I don't think it's the actual wage cuts that are the problem for the agents, it's more likely to be wanting guarantees on reduced transfer fees, free transfers at the end of the season etc.
  2. No. Worst time possible to stop taking in new members.
  3. Conference calls these days are as good as face-to-face. Also.....maybe the meetings aren't being held at Ibrox?
  4. No, it means that redundancies are the last resort. Huge difference.
  5. Excellent post again Guardian......you are an oasis of common sense!
  6. What decisions???? You've highlighted the main one! And what's not right in the statement? They have simply put everything they've previously said into plain English to get rid of all the speculation and misinformation that's been going the rounds on forums and in the press and media?
  7. The last thing the Admin want is redundancies among the playing staff as they are our biggest asset. The players seem to be acting as a block, which means either they all accept or they all refuse. If they do refuse then all the high-earners will be made redundant and the value of our assets will be slashed, making us an even less attractive proposition to any prospective buyer.
  8. The administrators still have not made contact with Gary Withey – Rangers’ company secretary and a former partner in the London law practice of Collyer Bristow – who was last seen in the firm’s offices on Feb 24 and who may have left the country. May I suggest they start looking in Monaco?
  9. The full article from the Daily Mail: Scots businessman Brian Kennedy has stepped up his interest in taking control of Rangers by meeting administrators for the troubled Ibrox club. But the multi-millionaire has told Sportsmail he is not interested in being part of any future consortium and would step aside if Paul Murray’s Blue Knights group is the best option to secure the future of the SPL champions. The Ibrox players and staff are anxiously awaiting an announcement from the administrator in relation to job losses as part of the massive cost-cutting process necessary to save the club. And last night controversial owner Craig Whyte broke cover from his Monaco base to predict ‘more pain’ ahead for Rangers — on the day the PLUS stock exchange fined the club £50,000 for failing to disclose his previous disqualification as a director when he completed his takeover of the club last May. As former Rangers director Murray puts together a consortium of businessmen, believed to involve Dave King and businessman Douglas Park, Kennedy said: ‘I’ve had a meeting with the administrators. ‘But they have to work out exactly what the position is before they can talk to anybody in earnest. ‘Ideally, a consortium will be put together to buy Rangers. I would not be interested in joining a consortium because it’s not the way I work. But that might be best for Rangers if it came off. ‘The Blue Knights seem to be a good bunch of guys and, if they can get the funding to save Rangers, then good luck to them. I am not competing with them. ‘I would stand back if they showed they were the best option for Rangers. But if they are not able to do so, then that is possibly where we might have an interest. As always, there is an “if” in there.’ The Edinburgh-born 51-year-old, who is regularly listed in the top 200 of Britain’s richest men, is a friend of Graeme Souness and refused yesterday to rule out bringing the former Rangers boss back to the club. Sportsmail understands Kennedy has already called Souness for his advice on a bid. As yet, however, he has not asked his friend to become involved in a takeover. Asked if he might in future, he added: ‘Absolutely, but I’m not telling you any more on that. No comment.’ Players are prepared to take a 25-per-cent wage cut to try to save jobs at the club — and administrators could announce their decision within the next 24 hours. Those worried about the future of Rangers will not have been heartened by Whyte’s comments from Monaco last night. Speaking on Sky Sports News, Whyte told fans: ‘Stick with it. We are going through some changes right now. Get behind the team, get to Ibrox on Saturday. Everyone has to stick together. ‘Like every other Rangers fan, I would hope redundancies are kept to a minimum. What I will say is that there will be more pain and the administrators are acting in the best long-term interests of the club. ‘I am in regular contact with the administrators. I am working as hard as I can to help resolve the issues and ensure Rangers come out the other side of this. ‘I’m not going to get into private conversations I have with the administrators. ‘They have a job to do and they are working hard to get through the many issues that have to be resolved. ‘I said a couple of weeks ago that this was the beginning of the end of the uncertainty hanging over Rangers for years now. We are still in that process and it’s painful.’ When asked about the lack of clarity over missing club funds, Whyte said: ‘There will be clarity from the administrators. There are no missing millions. I can assure Rangers fans that every penny has been accounted for and will be accounted for. ‘I’m getting on with the job and I hope to be in Glasgow very soon.
  10. Me too. Dunno how I ever lived my life without waiting for possibly life-changing official statements every hour.
  11. Lord Nimmos investigation has nothing to do with the SPL, it was set up by the SFA.
  12. I'm in no way a Trainor apologist, but maybe he's been told to shut up while the administrators are at work? If the admins agree there was an agreement in place then they alone have the weight to push sellick for the cash? As for a seperate investigation into liewell......it's going on at this very moment in the stockroom of Carpet Warehouse.
  13. Regans statement said the investigation was into whether Rangers had breached the Articles of the SFA, so I would think that would be mandate enough?
  14. While not wishing to dampen anyones' enthusiasm over Russian billionaires etc........The Daily Mail is possibly the least trustworthy "newspaper" there is, lower even than the sun and record. They have a long history of invention, especially when it comes to football.
  15. None of them is 100% correct I think. Remember this is being said in court as part of our case. We need to show the court that our need is greater than the other claimants, so we "over-egg the pudding".
  16. This Honestly, some on here are acting more like the septics than Bears. Leave the paranoia to the scum, we are better than that!
  17. Duff & Phelps are squeaky clean. Ernst & Young have more than once said that they (D&P) are doing everything properly.
  18. Exactly! Which is what the admins have been saying all along. Duff & Phelps were approved by a court, not just by Whyte. We should all be glad we have them instead of HMRCs' choice, as they would have sold off everything they could at the start.......leaving us completely unsellable!
  19. Firstly.....instead of just reading the headlines in the gutter press or on SSN try reading the statements. 1) after they had been in a few days they stated we would need both redundancies and to save 4.5million by the end of the season . No they didn't. They said we needed to save £4.5m between now and the end of the season, and that this would be done through wage cuts or, less desirably, redundancies. 2) we are than told they are chasing 3.5 million from Whytes solicitors client account ( i believe they find out today ) I am no legal expert but if this money is given to Us does this not then reduce the shortfall based on current information to 1 million , thus allowing smoother wage reductions conversations. They said that the £3.8m in Whytes' solicitors account would have no bearing on the cost-cutting measures as we would not receive it in time. 3) Having said that they will be seeking bids by the 16 th to buy the club , they then acclerate the process and if we believe what we hear they want offers in 48 hours . All this they say hastened by the players failure to agree . This is true, although the closing date is still officially March 16th, they are trying to get it done before tomorrow night so they don't need to cut the playing staff, as this would devalue the club significantly in the eyes of potential buyers. 4) The players have then come out and said the administrators are lying re the agreement . This was stated in the media with no sources, so we have no idea if it is true. Ally McCoist made a statement on RTV last night saying that everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet and were focussed on saving the club no matter what. He also said that a deal with the players could yet be reached. 5) my heid is bursting , so am I correct or wrong in thinking if no one bids/buys us in 48 hours we will go into liquidation. All our heids are burstin mate. And no, this does not mean we go into liquidation, although it's a possibility. If we don't get a buyer in place by tomorrow night the admins will then make drastic redundancies to ensure we have operating funds to fulfill our remaining fixtures.
  20. They said it wouldn't directly affect the need for cost-cutting measures as we wouldn't receive it within the necessary time-frame.
  21. Regan, Doncaster, Trainor and almost everyone else involved on the BBC discussion the other night all agreed it would be a disaster for Scottish football, so this is old news? Interestingly enough, the only person who didn't seem to share that feeling was Hibs wanker-in-chief Rod Petrie, who stated that Scottish football would continue "with or without Rangers".
  22. Ah I see. You could well be on the right track mate.
  23. Go back and read the earlier statements......they were cautiously optimistic and always mentioned cost-cutting as a proviso for survival. Unfortunately many took the best bits from their statements and ignored the worst bits, which has led to a lot of misinformation being spouted, both on the forums and in the media.
  24. Boycotting Tannadice is a very noble idea, but the timing stinks. All we'll see are headlines stating that we stayed away because of our current plight. If a boycott is what's called for it should be planned well in advance so there is maximum effect......all that will happen this time is that Bears who don't normally get a ticket will find it easier to get one because some have handed theirs back or sold them on. Doomed to failure I'm afraid. Boycotting their merchandise is the best option for this game IMO.
