Reminds me of when West Ham "signed" Tevez and Mascharinio a few years ago and everyone decided they were now a top-four team. One or two stars does not make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

A lot of people sail too, and would argue that Ben Ainslie is our greatest ever olympian - silver in 96, gold in 00, 04 and 08 and arguably the greatest dingy sailor ever. He gets my vote. Sad inditement of the 'national' games that football, rugby and cricket don't feature.

I'm sure when they swapped Cashley Cole for him they thought they were getting rid of a petulant kid. All they got was a slower and older one.

Started out brilliantly - brought in great players and made the club into a real force. Brilliant times. But like most people who do well intially he carried on too long and tarnished it. My dad once said about the Rolling Stones - when they were brilliant they were really brilliant, but why are they still hanging around when they should be enjoying their retirement ? Same thing with Murray - gave us a great 10 years but should have stayed retired.

He isn't a great champion like say Hearns, Duran or Hagler because he hasn't beaten great champions. But an undefeated record (assuming her retires ubdefeated) puts him above the Watts, Minters, Contehs etc. Worthy of our respect, but not worship.

I can't imagine Viera playing for Roy Keane !! Prior to the Pizza-throwing Arsenal/Man U game a few years ago, Viera was trying to intimidate one of the Nevilles and Keane squared up to him and told him if he was any good he would have gone to Madrid. (Madrid had been linked with Viera prior to that).

They will strugle to get top-4 this season. Thin squad, captain with a suspect temperament and no bite. A real pity, but being everyone's favourite second team doesn't win you anything.

Far to good a player for that price. Was listening to a Arselnal player talk about him on 5 live a week or so ago, said his teamates don't know if he is left or right-footed as he is so comfortable with either.
