  1. I saw him on the news earlier, and it was the first time I'd heard anyone point out that these muppets weren't necessarily those who would have anything to do with the club or the travelling support. Everyone seems to forget that any twat out for a carry-on can stick on a Rangers scarf and chuck a bottle.
  2. givin you seen it happen to a russian just proves that the police think they have the most power in the world. they have the power to do some stuff, no need to fkin abuse it The police that I spoke to during the day (and there were lots, I was always asking for directions etc) - you couldn't fault them. They were friendly, helpful, well-mannered, getting their pictures taken with fans etc, the whole thing was great. It was the "tactical units" i.e. RIOT POLICE that I noticed a definite change in attitude - yelling and charging at people who where doing nothing but innocently walking down the street, or standing still. Fair enough, maybe by the point I'd seen them they'd seen enough trouble to be wary of us, I don't know. Certainly from where we were, no-one was causing any trouble and yet they were still acting like dicks towards us (and the few Zenit fans that were near us).
  3. I just saw that on Newsnight. Funnily enough that clip hasn't been on rotation quite as much so far. I saw them do something very similar to a Russian fan when I was walking back to the city centre from the velodrome. The whole thing is just a mess. :angry2:
  4. Agree. I've just watched the BBC news and it makes me cringe whenever I hear them talking about the carnage caused by "Rangers fans". These people are NOT genuine "fans" and due to them just being out for a fucking carry-on they've tarnished the good name of our support, possibly irreparably. There's no mention whatsoever now about the thousands of fans who went down there and were well-behaved and good natured, and very little mention of the actual game itself. It makes me so disappointed and angry in equal measure. :angry2:
  5. So true. We said exactly the same thing when we hit the city centre in the afternoon. The number of people who were absolutely beyond wasted hours before the game had kicked off, and were blatantly not even bothered about the match beggars belief. More so than any match or event I've ever been to.
  6. The shutters at Boots the Chemist looked pretty fucked when I passed on my way to the station at 8am this morning. They looked mangled and buckled like they wouldn't be able to get them open, and the bottom of the shutters was covered in footprints like folk had a pretty good attempt at trying to boot them in.
  7. The velodrome... Luckily managed to make it in time for kick off.
  8. Ended up at the velodrome as everywhere was full!!!
  9. I've been to Manchester several times and the only time I've had a problem there was when the twat of a taxi driver wouldn't accept my Scottish £5 note. Other than that it was fine in every shop or bar I was in. Also, I asked at my bank earlier, and they told me technically Scottish notes should be perfectly acceptable in England - although from experience I know that isn't always true. Having said that, working in a shop up here we quite often get both Scottish and English customers looking at those new Bank of Scotland fivers and then looking at us funny like we're trying to give them monopoly money or something - they do look a bit like Euros or something...
  10. I'm having the same dilemma. I love my SLR, it takes amazing pictures, but I can't really be arsed lugging it about all day. Plus I don't want it to get covered in lager when everyone's celebrating us scoring My compact on the other hand fits right in my pocket, but won't take as good photos. Hmm.
  11. travelodge manchester central, ya beauty!! :2588:
  12. Well said. I had to give up my season ticket a few years back due to work commitments - I could no longer attend enough games to make it worthwhile (or affordable) to keep. Now the only games I get to are the so-called "unglamouress" ones I can actually manage to get a ticket for when I'm not working - this season, East Stirling, Gretna, Kilmarnock, ICT and so on, as well as Hearts and St Johnstone in the cups - each time PLENTY of empty seats. I don't have a ticket for the final and had no chance of getting one, and while it's annoying for me personally, I'm not complaining because absolutely the folk who are stumping up the cash at the start of the season and going week-in, week-out should be getting the chance to go (I'm going down to Manchester to watch on the big screens regardless!) What's really fucking me off at the moment, is the number of people I know personally, folk I'm friends with or work beside, who can't be arsed attending any of the above games, or likewise can't be arsed if the game's on the telly, but who automatically think it is their right to have a ticket for the final and have been bleating for the past couple of weeks about how unfair it is they haven't been successful. Everyone's disappointed. There was such a poor amount of tickets allocated to us, it's impossible to please everyone. The travel club thing though is a different story... What utter shite!! :harhar:
  13. What kind of precedent is this going to set if they are allowed to do this? FFS, every team has had decisions go against them at one time or another, we've had more than our fair share this season. If DU got away with this, where would it end? Every team threatening to take the ref to court if they lose? Seriously? I just laughed out loud.
  14. I was up there too on Wed, it was a great atmosphere.
  15. I'm having the same dilemma at the moment. I've had a hotel booked in Manchester since we got past Panathinaikos *just in case*. I've got no tickets for the final and not a hope in hell of getting any, but I was going to travel down anyway... now I'm wondering if it'll be worth my while. I genuinely expected big screens etc to be set up as a matter of routine, but if GMP are digging their heels in over this, I don't want the night spoiled by all this other nonsense I keep reading about, or be running around Manchester trying to find somewhere to watch the game when I could probably just watch on big screens in George Square instead. I really need to be sorting out time off work etc and I have no idea at the moment what to do! I really don't see what their problem is in setting up screens. From their point of view, surely better to keep us all in the one area and therefore easier for crowd control??
  16. :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: I'm SO proud of all of them. Even if they do insist on trying to kill me with nerves at every opportunity!
