  1. you're right. the ref was giving free kicks for nothing. Since when is it a freekick when a keeper clashes with his own player. Twice they were given free kicks, when there wasn't a rangers player near the keeper
  2. He played to allow us to dominate possesion, which we did. Aberdeen's biggest threat is from setpeices as they showed against celtic, playing mcculloch helped us reduce that threat. People may ask why hemdani didn't play DM, but Aberdeen are a direct team, and hemdani would have been completely missed out. When Aberdeen changed to 451, we should then have taken mcculloch off for boyd and went 442, but mcculloch did exactly what he was asked to do.
  3. Protecting him obviously wasn't as important when we'd lost the league up at Pittodrie last time, and tackles were flying in. I don't think it's the physical side he was protecting him from, but the mental side, the pressure of having to win every game, and the fact every mistake is scrutinised. But he now says that fleck is ready, and I'm willing to give Smith a chance to show that he has faith in fleck before I go back to slagging him for never bringing through young players. But when are they going to learn the mental side if it isn't thrust upon them? Don't get me wrong, I think Fleck should have played more by this point, however if smith is correct in that it has taken him a while to settle in training, then I can understand not throwing him straight in. I also get the impression that, but for the injury he had earlier in the season, he would have been more involved by this point. I usually agree with you completely on how our youth players should be brought through, however I'm willing to wait for a couple of weeks to see how much fleck is involved, before I go back to damning smith

  5. aye but fleck isnt world class yet and has yet to be tested anywhere near a level that could convince most people that he could be He's world class for his age. The times article isn't the first time he's been in the top 10 for exciting prospects. Whether he becomes a world class player has still to be seen, but he is in the world's elite of 17 year olds
  6. voted fantastic, however good is more accurate, and he is well worth the money paid. I think his composure on the ball and distribution are a major part in us playing more attacking football than last year, along with his pace allowing us to play a higher defensive line.
  7. Good point Hopefully the journalist is right, and he is planning on starting fleck at pittodrie. I think that it will be the likes of mcmillan and loy who are out getting first team experience that come through before ness. I've criticised smith a lot in the past for not playing youth players, or more accurately not bringing players through from rangers youth teams, however his answers recently have got me much more optimistic. Next year I expect mcmillan, loy, maybe kinniburgh, and shinnie to start to make the breakthrough, with the likes of ness and wilson out on loan to get first team action. Unfortunately I can't see emslie, lennon, or (particularly dissapointing) furman making the grade. aaron is the only other reserve player I expect to make any significant appearances this season.
  8. Not a totally unrealistic possibility, but as i touched on, de Visser's book of contacts is just so vast. Apart from his aforementioned Dutch contacts, he is also one of the main men in the Russian, Brazillian and Argentinian markets. He really could be (if YNWA is right) there for anything. I look forward to the next Ronaldinho being unvailed in the next few days then
  9. Hope I'm just panicking here, but is it a coincidence that he's been spotted at murray park, the week after fleck made his first start, and the sun's story about fleck and wilson being targets for EPL teams
  10. fleck should have been givin a chance months ago He was injured earlier in the season, so although I'm not saying he would have played earlier, there's a good chance that this delayed his first start
  11. Dream on that will never happen mate. Unfortunately you're right, but there's no harm in imagining a rangers team full of youth and energy that will attack a team all day.
  12. playing on the left, I'd say fleck, preferably with naismith upfront with boyd. I'd love to see :fleck: :aaron: :boyd: though
  13. It's on the official website now, and Jamie Ness, 18, is on the bench
  14. Yes, he's the best option we've got at the moment. I just wish he had the balls to tell walter that his youth policy is apalling, and that if he didn't start looking after the future of the club, then he'd be fired.
  15. I really think we need to go with a dutch manager. Now I know it could be argued that Dick Advocaat is partly responsible for the current financial situation, however it was also him that demanded a top quality training complex to bring through youth. Steve McLaren has previously spoken about the difference in philosophies between holland and Britain. Saying that over here the basis is on management, however over there the emphasis is on coaching. I would have no problem whatsoever with us being a selling club if we followed the PSV of Ajax model
  16. On the other hand we've seen the following all too often from some of our fans: "Get the boays in the team!" Shortly afterwards: "Get him tae f*ck! He's pish". This is true, and we are probably one of the most impatient supports in the world. Ultimately if Walter came out with a statement along the lines of "We need to sell one of our top players, but we have a number of talented young players ready to make the step up" then I think we as a support would cut the management team a bit more slack, but he has neither said nor shown anything along these lines. The only time he mentions youth is when he's complaining about the U21 rule
  17. This should be changed to "Walter is very clear that if your miles better than any of the senior players in that position, then you might get a few 5 minute appearances over the season"
  18. The F*ck up we made was in signing edu. While edu could still prove to be a good signing, without splashing £2.6 million on him, we wouldn't have to sell any of our "stars", and i have no doubt that furman would be a good back up for fergie and mendes
  19. His first half performance was probably the best we've had at left mid all season. I agree that he should be used as a striker, but until aaron gets a chance, naisy is probably our best option on the left
