McMillan has played DM a number of times for the reserves and youths (probably more than he has played rb). He is pretty small for a cb, and pretty good on the ball, so this is probably a position that he is more naturally suited to. Although i'd prefer the line up to be: mcmillan thomson novo fleck beasley lafferty

I'm sorry but I just can't agree. Positionally dailly is better, which you would expect seeing as he has played there a heck of a lot more than mcculloch, but his tackling is laughable at times, and for examples of giving away clumsy fouls, see kaunas. Lee's not ideal, but I'm glad to see the back of dailly.

I really don't understand why after saying that weir wouldn't be able to play three games a week, walter decided that after two tough games for scotland, davie could play against motherwell and stutgart, all in 11 days. It was a terrible decision not to rest him at the weekend, and it's given us major problems for tonight and next saturday.

Maybe it was the way we played that made me think different then but in both those games Fleck and Naisy were up with the other strikers and it seemed like a 4-3-3/4-5-1 to me. Our movement was generally better in those games, so I can understand you're point, also that rothen and davis were sitting much deeper than our wide players in previous games (as much as I like davis, it infuriates me when he's sitting deeper than our centre backs), but the only competitive game we've played 451 in was hearts, and that lasted about 13 mins. We'll see a 451 on wednesday i'm sure

While I would also like to see us play 433, we didn't change our formation for the motherwell game. We played 442 against falkirk and hamilton as well.

I'm asking for any gems that the scouts unearthed. Let's look at the players mentioned in the thread: Boumsong - On Liverpool's radar and highly quoted while at Auxerre. Willie McKay handed him to the club on a plate. Cuellar - identified as a player when he played against us - Scouting at its best. Bougherra - an established internationist. If the job of the scouts is to identify internationalists or players that that play well against us then it's hardly a taxing job. How many unknowns have we signed over the past few years who have turned out to be great players? have we been scouring the Scandi market, for example, for some players? Doesn't seem like it. may just be me but did we not sign the next best thing from sweden in the plg days have we not got a young swedish striker on our books have we not got the brightest talent to come out of scandanavia with bendiksen ????? must just be me that knows about these players then :: All these players were signed before Walter returned and brought Chester back with him. The problem with Ewan Chester is that we don't know what he does. Nobody does, which leads to the assumption he does f'all. I've never read a story of a player that Chester has found for us. It's always Adam Owen, Mo Johnston or some other staff member/ex player.

I think this could be a good move. He could be a great role model for wilson; a left sided centre half with 82 caps. I'd rather see us bring him in for free, with a view to developing wilson as bougherra's partner long term, than going for a mediocre 27 year old, that would be seen as a rival to wilson, rather than a mentor. Although I do realise that saying "long term" and "bougherra" together may just be me daydreaming.
