  1. Most of these replies are a joke!! This is about the 5th time he has said he doesn't want to leave in january, and wants to win the league with us one more time, before moving to a higher standard of league. I don't think there are even any new quotes in this article, which could just have easily been named "Bougherra going nowhere in January". Before when he said this, people were praising him for his honesty, and the fact he wanted to be with us for at least this season. Now it's this pish of not being committed. He was wrong to come back late, but he had already been told he wasn't playing, so it's not this "choosing when he plays" bullsh;t. He doesn't have a say in when he leaves for the ACON. He has requested to stay til after the celtic game, but if he can't then the gripe should be with the fifa rule, not boughie.
  2. We can say that when we are top of the league with a decent lead. We can say it because we're champions. Yeah we've been pish this season, but we beat Dundee Utd and we're top. I hope Hibs and Utd can keep up with us, would make it more exciting, especially if one finishes above Celtic, but realistically it is very very unlikely to happen. I know if we beat Dundee Utd we go top, but we do actual have to beat them first and our away form had been pretty rank. I am all for confidence but theres a time and a place. Perhaps these comments should have been left til after the games, but I don't really see the harm. These teams allways give their all against us, and as long as we give our all, we'll beat them. It's the other games that will be the difference, when they will drop stupid points. I'm glad our players are confident.

  4. Whatever happened to "We welcome the chase". Utd and Hibs players are coming out with "we don't fear you", "we're good enough to win", blah blah blah... Thomsons just coming out with the truth. "Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase!"
  5. We have mate, its perhaps not been a standard 4-3-3 but we have not really had wingers as such. Its tended to be three central midfield players and 3 strikers that at times has looked like a 4-4-2 but we didn't have yesterdays shape. Davis has played out right and has tended to drift into a more central role leaving a big gap on the right hand side of the park. I'm not blaming Davis for that, its looks to me that Smith has previously set out with that in mind. We really haven't given Whittaker any support all season, yesterday was the first time that we have had a winger on either side of the pitch and it meant that our left and right back could get close to their man without worrying about another getting past them. You're right that we haven't played with wingers, and had cm or strikers on the wings, but the shape was still a 442. Just not a very effective 442 for the most part.
  6. I wish we played 433, but we haven't at all this season (in europe it has been 451, and in the league 442). Davis provides plenty of cover for the RB when he's at RM. I think that its because of Whittakers defensive weaknesses that Davis has played RM more than not this season, so as to not leave him isolated, and today with broadfoot, who is better defensively, we could play a more attacking midfield. On form, Whittaker is a better player than Broadfoot, but recently poor players have been going past him like he isn't there. Your other points I agree with.
  7. He could have brought Wilson of Little into defence, and moved Bougherra into midfield (not ideal either imo), or preferably put Fleck in beside davis. He has played CM before in the reserves. The only real weakness he has in that area is defensive, but we were 3-0 up against St Johnstone. Would it really have been that much of a risk?
  8. I'd rather play Danny Wilson
  9. I remember Boli saying how shocked he was at the teamtalks and tactics when he was here. He was used to OM where the coach would discuss the opposition for an hour or so, highlighting their weaknesses and strengths. WS just used to tell everyone where they were playing, and to get the ball to Brian Laudrup as soon as they could! As insane as that sounds, it doesn't surprise me. You just have to look at the aberdeen game where the team talk would have been along the lines of "keep it tight, don't waste your time passing to each other, and when you do get the ball, punt it up for big kyle and big kris".
  10. I don't think this can even be disputed. He's a great man manager, who can get the best from good players (well he used to at least), but he's a god awful coach, who has no idea how to get the most out of a players potential.
  11. I think his point stands regardless of what he's won. Wenger is a side issue but I admire his philosophy if not his choice of defenders. I attended the Rangers versus Arsenal game at the Emirates in pre-season and was sitting in their end and got chatting to a few of their fans and they all seemed quite content for him to stay. One guy told me his net spend in the last five years is £27M profit when the next best of the big four was Ferguson at a £27M loss and that included the Ronaldo money. The Arsenal fans that I spoke to were of the view that saying he had buckets of cash to spend was "nonsense" and all their money was "in the stadium". I'm sure they were quite content at the start of the season because they probably felt this was perhaps their season, just like every other fan probably did. As the season has went on though the same problem's are appearing. His unwillingness to spend cash on experienced players is what's holding Arsenal back. They have undrachieved as a club for the last 5 years. I disagree. For the money that Wenger has had to spend in the past 5 years, they have overachieved in every way. He has spent less than he has taken from selling players. What other top club can the same be said about?
  12. We seen a team with 7 youth products lift the champions league last year. Does Walter not keep up with European football?
  13. I don't think that you would be able to buy more than 1 to be honest. You're not buying a share as such, you are paying for a membership. I don't think it would be encouraged for 1 person to have multiple memberships, as this would give them more power than others, and this is what we are trying to get away from. From what I've read, it's just a one off membership payment, followed by a yearly subscription.
  14. He's played at right back more than midfield, and at centre back even more (although I think RB or DM are his most natural positions), so no, it wouldn't be playing him out of position.
  15. It's based on the fact he went to a catholic school (turns out he was in my sister's year). Don't know if he ever supported celtic, but he's been with rangers from at the latest 13 years old, so I don't understand the idea that he could still support them.
  16. Maybe if he actually gave the players some creative freedom, rather than telling them to fire in long balls as soon as they get the ball. If he is going to play Fleck out wide, he has to be given the freedom to roam, rather than giving him such rigid instructions.
  17. As has been said, when Fleck has played off a striker he has played well. Fleck could do a job as a winger in an advanced position, but the fact is he's being asked to play as a defensive wide midfielder (only walter could come up with such a position). Both he and Davis were picking the ball up far too deep, and getting the ball forward at the first chance. This was obviously Walter's gameplan, with Boyd and Lafferty up front. Why take a young player who's main attributes are his short passing, movement, and creativity, and ask him to sit deeper than the centre mids and fire in long balls. It makes no sense! This is just another of Walter's bizarre tactics which is making good players like Davis and Fleck, look bad. The fact of the matter is that Fleck was still our best midfielder, and our main chance of creating a goal, and this was coming from ten yards from the half way line.
  18. I went to a Catholic School, and really can't understand how people can defend them. The idea that separating children at a young age based on religion doesn't have an effect on sectarianism is quite frankly ridiculous. As for the educational aspect of it, I was top in my year, and although I was baptised when younger, am very much atheist. The top girl in our year was not religious either, yet it was us that were sent to school forums, as ambassadors for the school. Denominational schools should be abolished! There is no defence for them. Anyway, it’s a good article.
  19. i'm assuming you stay in the west end if you went to whiteinch primary, so did he go to st tams? edit: i just checked and he's from Livingston, so cant be Yes he stays in Livingston as do I He went to St Margarets Academy around the corner from me I went to Whiteinch P1-P3 as I said. I've stayed in Livingston for about 3 years now I went to St Margarets. Had no idea that he did lol. Mind you he'd have been a few years below me.
  20. Wenger also got fabregas for nothing. The young players that demand such high fees are those that have broke through at english teams. We need to improve our scouting network, so that we can bring these players to murray park, where they can then break through. Would Fabregas really have left Barcelona for Rangers though? I do agree with the sentiment though. It really is true that a good scouting network is perhaps the most valuable serction of the backroom staff. I doubt it. Very few youngsters would chose rangers over arsenal, but i can see where the op is coming from in that the prospect of first team football with rangers playing in the champions league, could be more appealing than reserve football at chelsea or liverpool, where they have massive first team squads.

  22. I think this could be said of most teams at the moment. The Ajax, Arsenals, and Portos of the world are probably the exception rather than the rule. If it was so easy to buy unknown youngsters and turn them into superstars, many more teams would be adept at doing that. Not necessarily. Doing that requres top class coaches that can work with players over a period of time. These type of coaches don't guarantee success. Walter is a great man manager, and knows how to improve a defender's game, but I can't think of one mid to front player that has actually improved under him. Walter is great at getting the best out of a players current ability, but very limited at helping a player reach their potential, and this is the type of coach that we need if we are to go down the youth route. There aren't an awful lot around, simply because it takes time, with no guarantee of immediate success. As well as at least 10 scouts.
