I really do not understand why people think changing the captaincy will make any difference to the ability that is lacking in this squad. I do not care who is the captain it is the overall quality in the squad that is lacking and to be honest I would only keep four players from it .

Now that is a striker maybe play Tav up front.

I think I have solved our recruitment funding; fine our players for every back pass and triple it for every free kick in the opposition half that goes backwards.

What was the tactic talk once they went down to ten men? Bring the game down to walking pace, let them sit back and get organised, pass the ball back and sideways as often as possible. We need to up the tempo, start moving into space and pull them about. We cannot afford to stick at 1 - 0 and hope that they will not get a set piece.

Yes and suddenly Dessers will learn the offside rule, be able to control the ball, find a burst of pace and become a striker. Lammers will be able to pass to a team mate. Our midfield will magically challenge for the ball and try to stop opponents walking past them. Barasic will actually play a free kick in the opposition half forward or even towards their box instead of feeding it back to our box.

A look at the bench tonight sums up the state of our club. The injury situation is not really an excuse since most of the absentees were hardly regular starters in the past. It just appears that from the top down no one cares or has any pride or idea what is needed to sort this sorry state.

Looking forward to see Lammers beat an opponent and actually advance with the ball and just maybe find a team mate as well. It has got to happen one day.

The squad is very poor with the only successful summer signing being Butland. A new manager can possibly motivate to improve work rate, can possibly vary and improve tactics but when arguably the majority of the squad just lack ability there is a limit to how optimistic we can be. The decrease in performance over the last two years is staggering. No team fears us, with good reason.An abysmal forward line, a work-shy midfield and a panicky defence. All through bad recruitment choices over the past two years. Maybe scrape the Viaplay cup, should get out of the Europa group but lose the first knockout round unless some decent money is spent on current quality players. The league is gone and where we finish again depends on quality signings, which I doubt we are in the position to make even if we had someone who can recognise ability.

No great expectation since the only one with coaching/ managing experience is Rae whose history is not good to say the least.

These two are the least of our problems; we have no goalscoring strikers that can be depended on, we have nothing in midfield to control the game going forward or to defend. We have no one capable of replacing them.

Nobody has been worse than Pedro, at least PLG knew he was in the wrong place.

Without doubt the Clarke, McInnes, Martindale type of manager could organise the team into a recognisable system. 5-4-1 etc designed to be solid at the back supposedly the easiest coaching task. However, the support, the club demand and need to have a team set out to win every game possible not to hope to hold out for a draw and possibly get the odd set piece win. We need a manager who knows about winning trophies and understands how to do that not a manager whose philosophy is try not to lose. We have seen how Man Utd spiralled when Moyes took over and have still to recover and how Chelsea sank when Potter tried to weave his be tight and draw games system. We need a winner but they are as hard to get as a 40 goal a season striker.

I do not think that’s the case. We have no reliable strikers, our midfield is non existent, our defenders turn into Keystone Cops if we put the ball out for a corner. We cannot give away clowns like Wright because no one would take him and he like all the other dead wood are happy to sit back and take the wages we over pay them. Again this season we have bought more dross on contracts which mean we have added even more deadwood No one is going to turn Dessers, Lammers and Cifuentes into competent players, no one is going to make Jack mobile and forward thinking, no one is going to make Roofe into a bionic man. Our squad is filled with mediocre failures and projects that have been found out by other clubs to be mediocre failures and we are the easy dumping ground. Scouting and recruitment has been horrific for 11 to12 years and worst still our boards have learned nothing from the countless mistakes and seem determined to bleed the support dry while looking down their noses at fans who generally know more about the game and the club than them.

Leet us be honest, our scouting and recruitment has been honking for the last 11/12 years. Something has to be done to bring a better quality of players in because we have wasted so much money on what often looks like lazy scouting and recruitment of targets from years before.
