  1. Our youth coaches are shite. As are the majority of coaches in this country because they're taught by absolute arseholes who know nothing about football. He may be English but as long as they're eligible under FIFA rules and are good enough I personally don't have a problem. I doubt the TA would have as much as a problem if it were South American born players we were talking about here.
  2. You're being petty. It's hardly saying something along the lines of "Playing for Scotland never entered my mind. I only want to play for England". Of course, if given the choice between the two he'll choose England... He's English.
  3. How do you know Hooper doesn't? I personally don't care if they do or don't. We aren't in a position where we can afford to be that fussy over players. If they're good enough then get them capped in pointless friendlies.
  4. If Messi had a Scottish grandparent would you want him in the Scotland squad?
  5. When I heard they were looking for an emergency goalkeeper I assumed they'd bring in Gabor Kiraly, as you do.
  6. I hear Bob Wilson is free atm. Maybe Wenger should open talks.
  7. Surprised the papers never kept this back a week.
  8. Fair post, however... "we opened up tonight and they would have punished us". That's my fear for Ibrox. We'll need to open up to get a goal because quite frankly, fuck playing for penalties. I hate that, it's nervy as fuck and is just asking to concede a late goal. We need to open up at Ibrox so why won't they punish us there? That's the exact point I've been trying to make. With an away goal though, that fear isn't looming as large because if they score they're only cancelling out what we've already done.
  9. Nice to see Sheva doing well. One of the best strikers I've ever seen in his Milan days.
  10. Depends how much he wants regular football. Anyway, a trip to Dublin and he'll fall in love with the club.
  11. Yeah. It isn't really sensible to hope for an away goal which would cancel out any PSV goal. They won't score two at Ibrox but in the same breath I don't think we'll score two either but if we get one, we'll sit back and defend it which could be disastrous if they score. I think tonight's result was good but it leaves it very nervy next week, which is something I'd rather avoid.
  12. I personally don't think the tie is over. Boab may, but I certainly don't I know it isn't. I'm not belittling a 0-0 against a high scoring team either. I'm highlighting the fact that a 0-0 away from home isn't as good as a 1-1, which is blatantly obvious. I'm pointing out that our manager went for a 0-0 instead of a 1-1. If we opened up one little bit would we have got turned over? I doubt it ffs, they aren't Barcelona.
  13. In the result of a tie on aggregate over two legs, the team with the most away goals will progress. They're basically an extra goal, of course they count double. Drawing 1-1 at home but then drawing 2-2 away. You haven't scored any more goals than the other team but you progress because they count as an extra goal. Unless you think that I think losing 2-1 tonight and then drawing 0-0 next week would result in us going through because we have an away goal? I know that isn't the case. Losing 2-1 tonight we'd still NEED to score one next week. I'm well aware of that. What it does do though is cancel out any potential away goal they get, which could be deadly in the tie when it's 0-0 on aggregate with no away tie left to rectify it.
  14. It could also be quite exciting if both teams go all out for a goal. 1 goal wins it, imo. It's not going to be a high scoring game so the first goal is huge.
  15. There's always a need to pick faults. Twice they had a free header at the back post. If you don't pick faults when mistakes are made then they'll continue to happen! Aye, I'd be better off supporting Blackpool because I value a 1-1 draw away in Europe twice as much as I do a 0-0. I can totally see the good in tonight's result. I'm not suggesting Smith just send out these players to play attacking football because they simply can't in Europe. I personally think though that he should be building a more attack minded team, it's not unreasonable to hope for that. Bit ironic that you're talking about the 12th man at Ibrox and how important they'll be yet you're also telling fans to stay away because of their tactical opinions...
  16. He rushes him back every single time. He does not learn. As soon as Fabregas is 50% fit he's back in the starting eleven. Fabregas was described as a "possibility" before the Barcelona game. Robin Van Persie was "out". Both started, neither finished for different reasons. Fabregas' reason being his hammy had went... again! If he was a major doubt before the game then surely he was nowhere near being fit enough. For the style that Wenger was going to employ in the Nou Camp it was obvious Fabregas would be oblivious so why risk him? Put a slightly more defensive minded player in there and Fabregas is still fit and Messi doesn't score. Wenger said Van Persie was "definitely out" and would be for three weeks at the very least. A few days later and he's running about getting sent off. A few years ago Cesc had been injured with a hamstring problem and came off the bench late on as Arsenal chased a goal v Aston Villa. Fabregas scored a free kick then scored again late on and fucked his hammy up again in the process. No player is that injury prone. That's the result of being rushed back time and time again and never being fully fit.
  17. It makes no difference. With 0-0 Rangers need to score to progress without the need of penalties. A 2-1 loss leads to the same situation. A simple 1-0 would be sufficient in both scenarios.
  18. Posts like this do my tits in. Is there any need for shit like that? Smite him, oh mighty smiter! What you class as "picking faults" others would class as "striving for perfection". Keep that in mind.
  19. If he went to Barcelona his injury problems would stop. It's Wenger's fault. Messi used to get a lot of niggling little injuries until Pep came in. I'm positive he'd help Fabregas in that respect.
  20. I'd be worried if she's into the donkey dick, puts a lot of pressure on you to step up in the bedroom. Are you up to it, sailor? On Bartley, he was class. He must replace old man Weir and now! What is the chances on Arsenal taking him back? Wenger doesn't seem to know a good defender when he sees one so there's a chance, right?
  21. There were one or two moments when it actually did look a bit shit. There were moments when it did look fragile, to be fair. Twice in the game they had free headers at the back post. Twice nobody came out and closed down Toivonen which allowed him to easily put Berg in one on one with Alexander. For the most part it was a solid defence but there were one or two shaky moments which on another day could've led to goals. In fact, if Bartley was playing in midfield Berg would've probably scored because there's no way Weir would've got back and sorted Berg.
  22. Agreed. Bartley must give Smith a massive stiffy. Big, fast tank who can play in multiple positions. I bet he's had a few sticky nights dreaming about him. The rascal.
  23. It's a good result in the fact that it's all square going to Ibrox but it's dodgy as fuck. Open up at home to try and get a goal and it gives them more space to exploit. Sit back again and don't look like ever scoring is just begging for them to score late on. Of course, I could be wrong with both. Could attack and annihilate them Valencia style but with no Miller or Jelavic there's fuck all at all to get the goals.
  24. Whittaker's doing well. Edu's touch is without doubt the worst in the country. Fucking hell, it's non-existent.
