  1. I've never been able to understand why the Club never brought a professional negligence claim against the party that advised and/or administered the EBTs.
  2. There are a few reasons why this is very wrong but when did the EBTs to players stop? What five titles are they saying will be stripped? Surely it cannot include the three that Walter Smith won?
  3. Does anyone have the viewing figures to hand? I saw a report recently and I think us versus the taigs got about 1.1M, games involving us got about 200k and games involving the taigs got 180k. Games when neither were involved got around 50k I believe. If Scottish football has to sell itself not on emotion and sentiment but on the basis of 50k viewing figures and the quality of product on display then I very much doubt a high premium will be paid.
  4. Like I said it's a nice post. I actually got more enjoyment watching Pollok than going to Ibrox in recent years. The quality of football was obviously much lower but it was honest and there weren't any of Salmond's storm troopers shutting down freedom of speech and expression.
  5. "I'm a City fan from Manchester ( I get to Ibrox a few times every season, have done for 22 years ) OK so City have just won the league, but my happiest times of following City was in our division 3 season of 1998/98, I went to 51/58 games that year - and we still talk about it now. We had some great days out visiting places like York, Northampton, Gillingham, Wrexham, Bournemouth and Lincoln. The fans were together as 1 and we were behind the team 100%. 30,000 packed into Maine Road week in and week out ( it was easier to get tickets for United away games than City's even though they won the European Cup that year). 19/23 teams in the league had their biggest gate against us. Happy days, great memories. There's a certain amount of "snobbery" with those like myself who were there when "we were sh*t" compared to those who are suddenly a lot more interested in City now the money/trophies are there. Rangers are about to embark on a similar journey, and when push comes to shove, those who stood by the club through these "thin" years will enjoy the next success a lot more than those who don't ! I can't wait for August the 18th, I will be there for a huge moment in the history of this club !"
  6. That looks most realistic for a quicker solution. The issue they have is the TV companies want four Rangers versus scum games when we eventually hit the top flight. Another issue is the games would reduce from 38 to 30. Not sure the clubs could handle this lack of revenue.
  7. It's an interesting thing, I suspect an amnesty on punishments will be called due to "exceptional circumstances" or other such excuse. I'm not convinced other clubs will see their holding companies liquidated but I do suspect Killie and Motherwell at least will enter administration. Motherwell limped on in admin for quite a while last time I believe. Two years rings a bell.
  8. I'm not sure how this would work in practice when you take "sporting integrity" and "sporting fairness" into account. Why wouldn't the top two clubs in Division 1 be invited ahead of a Club in Division 3 (possibly promoted to Division 2)? The only way I could see them doing this is if there is a financial meltdown in terms of Clubs over the next twelve months and it is sold as a package to "save Scottish football". I expect every SPL club will have alerted agents throughout the UK of the price of each of their playing squad and hope to sell off as many as possible to cover themselves for the year ahead.
  9. I saw that. It's disgusting, clearly it's what Green is lobbying for.
  10. To be fair to Green, and I posted this earlier today or yesterday, I think where we play has nothing to do with us. We're powerless in all of this. It's quite interesting as we're often told RFC is arrogant and has a superiority complex. Look at the way the wee SPL clubs are behaving towards the SFL clubs. It's beyond the pale their level of arrogance and the assumption the SFL clubs should "do as they're told".
  11. That £1m bribe on offer was £35k to Div 1 teams and £25k to Div 2 and 3 clubs. Us visiting their grounds twice per season is worth at least £90k I reckon. Not to mention the additional sponsorship us being in there would attract. Really, wherever we are it'd be SPL2 as the SPL is basically Rangers and the Taigs. The other clubs are an irrelevance. It's laughable the threat of them setting up a SPL 2 if we're not admitted to Div 1. There's less than four weeks until the start of the season!
  12. He already has threatened them in the Scotsman. The article has been pulled however. I cannot see how any SFL team is better off with us going straight into Division 1. That is all about preserving the SPL clubs.
  13. Brother Donald is backIng us. I hope every SFL club does likewise.
  14. Sandy Jardine really is a walloper. Benedict XVI could be the CEO and Jardine would tell us to rally behind him as long as he was ensured of getting a wage.
  15. Yeah let's occupy Hampden like a lot of pinko, hippie, socialist dossers with nothing else to do because the other occupy protests achieved so much and were coherent.
  16. I agree with you but the Club has been eating shit for at least twenty years. If you actually look at our history we've been shedding influence and eating shit from the SFA and media since the 50s.
  17. You can rearrange the leagues in whatever format you want but it is ultimately akin to reorganising the deck chairs on the titanic. Scottish football is on the bones of its arse for many reasons, including: Backward mentality to football style Backward mentality to what makes a player Backward mentality to youth development A poor product on offer (this flows from the first three) Not enough money in the game Not enough people attending matches Too many clubs Globalisation meaning your average punter now realises how keech Scottish football is when they have the CL, La Liga, the Premiership etc readily available
  18. Given they have all made it clear that without us Scottish football would wither on the vine I do not see this happening. I'd dearly love us to apply for Division 3 but the Club is powerless in all of this. Even if Green had a preference for Division 3 (he doesn't) I don't think it would be allowed and the threat of not rubber stamping the SFA membership would be held over the club. Hopefully the SFL clubs mirror the SPL clubs and apply sporting integrity by refusing us being parachuted into Division 1.
  19. Surely two visits from Rangers are worth more than £25k on average per club than the £1m for TV rights offer from the SPL? I see no incentive whatsoever for the SFL clubs to vote us into Division 1. Division 1 clubs will unlikely get promotion with us in there. Division 2 and 3 clubs will earn more from sponsorship and visits from our fans with us in their league even for one year. Given the SPL showed their hand and said they'd lose £16M without us for more than one year, the SFL clubs should, at the least, demand £8m payment to accept us into Division 1.
  20. How can they set SPL2 up in under one month?
  21. Does this imply they're confident of forcing us into Division 1?
  22. Why should the Club apologise? It's hardly the Club's fault that the rest of Scottish football is beholden to it and owes it's very existence and survival to the Rangers.
  23. Why would we accept and why would the SFA enforce a signing ban that the law courts have ruled illegal? There would be a distinct lack of integrity about that.
  24. Well done Mo. I do however think a few lower league clubs deserve our custom, unless of course they don't let us in Division 3!
