  1. Think the first defeat was v Airdrie at Broomfield the Saturday before Christmas 1974. Lost 4-3 and my old man who was a Diamonds diehard said it was one of the best games he ever seen. Airdrie at the time were managed by Ian The Wee Prime Minister McMillan.
  2. Hi Favel 99pc of the Rangers support are Protestant and the same with Catholics/Celtic. One thing that I have noticed over the years in Scotland though is that fans of other clubs in Scotland are almost all Protestant as Catholics to a man will support Celtic. Without doubt Rangers are the best supported club in Scotland. Despite Celtic being allegedly Irish, the vast majority of actual Irish support Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal in my experience. A lot of real Irish view Celtic fans as a bit of a joke. there s no longer much of a difference in social class now but they behave like Kosovans. most areas oft he city are mixed. Don't know much about immigrants but most Indians and English folk like Rangers.
  3. I'm mid 40s now and have seen some great days against them. My all time favourite was the 2-1 scottish cup semi win at San Giro when Hampden was getting refurbed. Today however trumps everything. I thought I was going to have a heart attack during the penalties and almost burst out greetin at the end. Rangers are back.
  4. Bobby Watson played 50 odd times for Rangers in the 60s but moved to Motherwell where he was a bit of a legend in the 70s. Also managed Airdrie.
  5. The delightful non sectarian Celtic support protesting with an Irish ballad for the greater good. Aye right. It should be pointed out to their sycophants in the Scottish media that the likes of Raymond McCreesh who is glorified in this little ditty was implicated in the Kingsmill massacre in which 10 men were murdered in an anti Protestant sectarian slaughter. It disgusts me that so many in the Scottish media are turning a blind eye to this celebration of bigoted murderers.
  6. Me and my mate were we're chatting after the East Fife game last week regarding Nicky Clark. He scored his first goal, the first of many hopefully. His Dad Sandy Clark also played and scored for Rangers back in 83/84 and was actually top scorer along with Super Ally. Couldn't think of any other Father and Son combos who'd scored for us. Anyone know differently?

  8. There is one tiny error with regard to Timothy's outpouring and that is that Jim Traynor doesn't have a son.
  9. Apart from the fact that your patter is shite, naw.
  10. Naw it's no ya fuckin highland halfwit. It makes sense for BOTH clubs to to move it as BOTH will benefit because BOTH get a 50/50 on the gate because its a cup competition.
  11. Remember guys that Rangers will also benefit from a bigger crowd if the game is switched to Airdrie as its a 50/50 gate split. Half of the proceeds of a 7-8000 gate at Airdrie is a lot more than half of 1300 at Cliftonhill. Also the local plod wont want 2000 ticketless bears standing on that hill overlooking the ground and noisiing up the IRA loving locals of Coatbridge.
  12. Mate vast majority of Airdrie fans are good Unionists and hate Sellik. Remember a midweek cup tie between Airdrie and Sellik at old Broomfield many years ago. The Airdrie fans gave it the full song book and local Sellik fans in the home end were getting battered left right and centre. A fine spectacle.
  13. My Father was an Airdrie fan and used to take me to Broomfield regularly in the late 70s and 80s. About half my family are (mainly lapsed) Airdrie fans and the other half Rangers fans. Still look out for the Diamonds and hope they come up in the play offs.
  14. My first ever Rangers match was actually against Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill probably around 1977 or 78. Midweek League Cup which won 1-0. Any older bears remember this? Probably last time Rangers played at Cliftonhill.
  15. St Mirren and Ross County both against it - just on BBC
  16. My father is an airdrie man and Ian McMillan is his favourite ever player.i took him to see the Dumbarton play off game and no wonder wee mac was disappointed. The diamonds were rotten.
  17. Remember phil Coles pub in langloan? My brother went on the section b bus to a Celtic airdrie cup game back in abou 1980. A double decker load of airdrie skinheads/punks/mods and loyalists stopped en route and smashed the place to fuck and put the windows in on their bus outside. Right republican shithole that place was.
  18. I'm originally from airdrie with a big soft spot for he diamonds. Technically 2 different clubs old and new but a lot of the regulars now see them as the same. Problem is a lot of diehard airdrieonians fans don't and they've lost a large chunk of their support. My fear is the same could apply to newco rangers.
  19. For me, cooper or laudrup. My father says Baxter or McMillan but my da has airdrie leanings so may be biased. I've actually had the pleasure of meeting the wee prime minister and asked him who the best rangers player was. His answer, Baxter by a county mile. Told a great story of a journalist asking slim if he thought he could put a ball on a sixpence from 60 yards. 3 attempts allowed. Wee McMillan says slim takes his first strike and hey all watch it land and a sixpence flies into he air!!
  20. You're right, we were better supported than Newcastle by about 4k when they were in the Championship. I'm not talking nonsence regarding Spurs, Chelsea or Newcastle though. All have been better supported than us on average since WW2 ended although it's been swings and roundabouts dependant on the fortunes of the respective clubs.
  21. Hard to compare domestically since the standards of the leagues has always been different so I would look at teams who have won a European trophy as we have and who have been better supported than Rangers historically. These would be; Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle who all have higher crowds than us with Everton being on a par roughly.
  22. The Broomfield Tavern, The Royal Bar, The Drumgelloch, The Tavern, The Masons Arms, all in Airdrie.
  23. There were numerous sectarian murders of Protestants carried out by the IRA. Therefore the IRA by definition are a sectarian organization. Any support of such an organization is vile sectarianism and should be treated as such. These are the facts gentlemen and lets not deviate from these facts. If football fans sand songs in support of Al Qaeda in this country it would be rightly condemned, why should it be different for the IRA?
  24. Wonder if the media would have reported this in Scotland. http://www.london24.com/news/celtic_fans_jailed_for_drunken_attack_on_wood_green_rangers_fan_1_893225
