Healy... yes, form player, who could go on a run if he gets a goal or two. Little... no... just don't think the boy has it. McCulloch... yes, could be vital for the games against them. Beattie... no! Broadfoot... no, but due to the size of our squad he will probably get a lot of game time. Kerkar... yes, we have to give this lad time and see what he can do. Edu... yes, shows in flashes that he is a decent player, probably needs to find the right partner.

Ideal scenario we sign a decent striker and winger tomorrow (probably on loan) and no one goes out. Nightmare scenario we don't sign anyone and lose one of our top players (Greegsy, Stevie Davis or Nikica). I am bricking it.

Maybe we have just learned (finally) to keep our transfer business under wraps so that other teams can't nip in under our noses. I would be amazed if we don't make at least one big signing (on loan) tomorrow.

Surely there is no way the tossers at the SFA can do anything but approve Matty's work permit? The fact that we want to sign him should be good enough to satisfy that he is of sufficient quality to play here?!!

As stated above sceptic will go through as UEFA will throw the book at Sion for playing the ineligible players. I know the league is priority, especially in Ally's first season, but Rangers really need to be in Europe (either CL or EL group stages) every year... it's what helps us attract guys like Nikica to the club.

As you say we bid £3m for Juhasz and £2m for Goodwillie (amongst other unsuccessful bids) now we have got the defensive cover sorted out, for next to nothing, we should have £3-4m to spend on a decent striker. I would be tempted to use the money to fund loan moves for Weiss and Santa Cruz.

We now have Weir, Goian, Bocanegra, Bartley and Papac who can all play centre back. Whittaker and Broadfoot for right back (Ortiz could also play right back... in fact this might be his best position according to the Spanish press) and Papac, Wallace and Bocanegra who can all play left back. I think we should start looking further up the pitch!

Always good to see us signing captains too... good to have plenty of leaders on the park.

With the other thread now closed, thought I would start another to welcome the big man! What an unexpected surprise last night! Good competition for places and cover at the back now. Should enable us to play big Bartley in midfield, if needed, too. All starting to come together for Ally! A striker and a good winger, who can beat a man, and I think we are there.

The game will probably be on ESPN in Mexico, which means you might even get it in your hotel room, but you shouldn't have any bother finding somewhere to watch it.

I think Ally is making it clear to Beattie that he isn't in his plans in the hope that he will take any offer he gets before 31 August... hopefully free up his wages.
