  2. I'll be going to the legends game on Friday, travelling from East Calder. Lift available for anyone who fancies going but cant get the transport. Room for 4 at a squeeze, Corsa so not the biggest car in the world. Just PM and I'll get back to you ... still time to get tickets.
  3. Whilst everyone is basking in the warm glow of Sunday ... why not send in some of your favourite Old Firm memories for a new Rangers book. All contributions welcome, PM here or send to rangers_memories@hotmail.co.uk Any other memories welcome, favourite player, trip, cup final, league decider, supporters bus. See the Rangers memories tab on www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk for updates on progress. Want to make it a good book, but to do that I need as much input as possible. All proceeds of the book will be going to the Scottish War Blind.
  4. A we bump up for the morning Bears
  5. Still looking for stories for my “Rangers Memories” book ... anything really, just some anecdotes, recollections of memorable times when supporting the ‘Gers. Be it your first game, favourite player, best ever game, whatever really. The earliest story so far includes an Old Firm game in the 1940s, and yes, would you believe it, Celtic were “cheated by the Referee” that day as well ... some things never change. I’ve got some good stuff in, but I need much, much more. I want this to be a book that everyone can enjoy and to do that I need the input of as many Rangers fans as possible. I’d like to crack on with it, so I’m going to set a deadline of the end of April for submissions. Don’t worry if you don’t think you can write it all down ... just jot down the basic points and I’ll work with you to get it into a decent format. I can also come out for a chat, to do an interview, of sorts. I just want to produce something that we can all enjoy. All proceeds of the book, after expenses will be going to the Scottish War Blind. You can get me on e-mail at rangers_memories@hotmail.co.uk or just message here. On the subject of fund raising, I’ve still got about a dozen copies of “It’s off to the match I go” sitting in my bedroom. I’m happy to donate £5 to the Scottish War Blind, and £5 to the Rangers fighting fund for every copy sold. For those who have ordered one already, dont worry, I have your copy set aside. See www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk
  6. It's an Amazon external seller thing. It's the same with my book. 3 new from £11.99, 1 used from £88.67. Mine is a mighty fine read but I wouldn't pay £88 for it. www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk
  7. Buy a scarf and stick a badge on it. And ... how can something that may help Rangers be a waste of money?
  8. Billy, at the end of the day we are all pulling in the same direction, I hope your choice of method is a success, and I hope that the Red and Black scarf is a success. At the end of the day we all want the same thing. Rangers 'til I die
  9. Trouble is ... we didn't sell out our last game Vs Hearts.
  10. Way back in the 1980s, Bob Geldof came up with the idea of a charity record to aid the suffering people in Ethiopia. That record, Do they know it’s Christmas, sold millions of copies and raised millions of pounds for a good cause. People bought the record because they wanted to do something, and wanted to help. Now, if Bob Geldof had gone onto TV and asked people to send in donations to help the cause, how much would have been raised. I don’t know the answer to that, but I’m pretty sure it would be no-where near what the record raised. Sometimes a cause needs a focal point to concentrate the minds of those willing and able to help. Think about it!
  11. This is what the RedBlackRangers guys said ... The reason for the Red and Black is that it will stand out more rather than the traditional coloured scarf which every bear has. The Red and Black links with the Home Socks as well as being the original colours for the borough of Govan. This will be a one off hence the reason why the different colours. The Red and Black will symbolise the fans uniting together to help the club in its hour of need! "Red and Black until we get our Club back!" Seems a good idea to me, and seems to be getting some results.
  12. But its not an AC Milan scarf. Its a scarf bought to signify support for Rangers in their time of need.
  13. Back in the early 1970s a lot of the supporters in "the choir" used to wear a Rangers scarf, but also a red and white one, quite often tucked into their trouser belts ... why, I dont know, cant remember, but I do remember doing it myself. No-one turned in their grave then, so I see no reason why they should do it now. Scottish Cup final Vs Aberdeen, 90% of the Rangewrs support turned up in orange, not as far as I know an official Rangers colour, in fact more associated with Dundee United or Blackpool. The Red and Black scarf is just an idea to raise some money for Rangers and to show our support in a visible way ... that cant be a bad thing, can it? Rangers 'til I die
  14. Some dont like the RST Some dont like the Assembly Some dont like Follow Follow Some dont like Rangers Media Some dont like Paul Murray Some dont like Alistair Johnston Some dont like David Murray Some dont like the Blue Order But ... lets all pull together and help Rangers and not squable amongst ourself.
  15. The scarves are red and black to make them stand out in amongst all the standard red, white and blue ones. To demonstrate suppport for the club. Are the RedandBlack guys copying Manchester United? Perhaps, but is that a such a bad idea. We weren't the first team to have a card display, but we do it better than most. We weren't the first team to have a fanzine, but we have a couple of good ones. The RedandBlack guys are trying to raise money for the club, they have been open about their aims and methods. Lets all try to rally to the cause and help Rangers in whatever way we can. Rangers 'til I die
  16. David Murray ran up astronomical debts. David Murray took us into the EBTs David Murray sold the club to Craig Whyte. Who is to blame for the current mess, it starts with a David and ends with a Murray.
  17. Thet missed their first one, if I recall correctly ... though it was a while ago. Tommy McLean and Derek Parlane missed. www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk
  18. Quick update on the Rangers books I’m doing. The new “Rangers Memories” book ... Still looking for any stories , anecdotes about being a Rangers fan. Favourite player, game, trip ... anything really to help fill a book that we can all enjoy. Send to rangers_memories@hotmail.co.uk, or leave a message here. It’s off to the match I go. This was never a money making exercise for me, so having now covered my costs ... I’ve decided to now split all proceeds of the book equally between the Scottish War Blind, and the SaveRangers campaign. I know that SaveRangers is just a pledge at the moment; I'll ensure that the money goes to help the team that we all love. There should be £3 going to each good cause. www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk
  19. Because we spend more than we bring in, particularly in years when there is no, or little European football. The biggest drain on our financies? Players wages. We pay too much, simple as that, Stephen Whittaker on somewhere between £20k and £25k per week, thats over £1m per year. We have to live within our means.
  20. Used to drink in O'Neils in Duntocher on a Friday night ... without colours
  21. I'm originally from Clydebank, used to go on the Hardgate Loyal, many years ago, talking about the 1970s. The bus left from the Goldenhill, a big blue nose pub. Went back there a few years ago for a quick pint, walked in with my Rangers top on and immediately beat a hasty retreat ... it was wall to wall Tims. Tims in Hardgate, never thought I'd see the day. www.its-off-to-the-match.co.uk
  22. Duncan,
