  1. I don't think he really would have had much of a choice when he left. He probably knew he was not going to be in the first team at Liverpool and we needed the money in badly.
  2. Sorry I hadn't read the rest of the topic. Yes am sure he lost the captaincy not long after his mistake against Monaco.
  3. No Gough was captain at the end of one season and Amoruso was captain at the start of the next.
  4. If you mean club captains rather than those who captained the team in any game I think it's only Amoruso and Ricksen. I don't think Albertz was club captain was he?
  5. McCall wouldn't be my choice but I think some folk need to remember every appointment is risky. Le Guen should have taught us all that your reputation does not guarantee success. It can easily go tits up for any manager. On the other hand McCall could build his own team and return us to the top. What he achieved at Motherwell cannot be ignored. Saying that I would be happiest with us appointing Warburton or McInness.
  6. Doubt McLeish would take a DOF role at the moment and I doubt we could afford to do this at present. If we pay the money necessary to get Warburton/Weir I can't see us splashing out another big salary for a DOF.
  7. I would agree with this in terms of senior players. I wouldn't be happy at anyone putting bids in for Murdoch, Walsh, Hardie etc. However, chances of that happening at the moment are low.
  8. The answer to that is BOTH - Poor Journalism AND Institutional Hatred
  9. I'll be renewing regardless but I voted yes. I reckon Warburton/Weir or McInnes would be great appointments and would sell a few more tickets.
  10. I think a lot of folk are answering this question as if its just like any other season. I dont think it is. You can't deny every single league match this season far outweighs any cup game in importance. I'm just wanting to get back up then worry about everything else. I'm not even sure it is the correct thing to do but thought I would put the idea out there to see what fans think. If it turns out we start the campaign with a squad strong enough to compete on four fronts as well as beat a hibs team you have to assume wont drop too many points them fair enough. We go for everything.
  11. Ah should have realised. To be honest the wording of the topic is probably not in line with what I mean. Topic should read "Should we concentrate on the League next season?" The 11 on the park should always play their best to progress. That to me is the Rangers way. Am speaking more in terms of team selection.
  12. Don't think we should even be thinking about Europe until were out this league. It should be one aim and one aim only.
  13. I'll ask the question another way. Would you have taken promotion this season if it meant getting pumped out each cup 3 months earlier than we did? Is hypothetical obviously.
  14. You can fuck off with the "call yourself a Rangers fan".
  15. I'm not saying the players shouldn't try and win each game. I'm saying we shouldn't be fielding the same 11 for the cups. Our strongest 11 for the league only. If Hibs get pumped out the cups straight away and we are fighting on 4 fronts in March it gives them an advantage in the run in. Would you have accepted it this season if it was the difference between promotion and failure?
  16. I've always felt we should field our strongest team for every game. However, winning the league in 2016 is an absolute MUST and for one season only, we should focus primarily on league matches. Cup games should be used to rest players and allow youth and fringe players a chance. Hearts appeared to do exactly this last season. Getting knocked out the cups earlier I think was a benefit for them in the long run.
  17. Harsh on Murdoch. He's going to be a great player for us as long as we hold onto him.
  18. Pearson's challenge at least a yellow Murdoch booked for far less McManus dived for free kick in their box Vukic was clearly caught and he's booked for diving McCulloch harsh to be booked as well. Ref is a disgrace.
  19. We should be starting with Ferguson and Walsh on the wings. If that's the case we need someone with presence in the box for cross balls. McCulloch and Miller up front in a 3-5-2 is a good shout.
  20. Exactly how I feel. We have to assume this is going to be the toughest of the 3 ties. We can't let it slip.
  21. McCoist deserves: Legend status for his footballing career Credit for his time as assistant to Walter Credit for the way he held us together Some credit for achieving 2 promotions Criticism for his overall managerial reign Heavy criticism for contract situation
  22. It wasn't a fluff mate the ball across the face of goal was too fast for him to connect properly.
