  1. Disagreeing with a manager's decision does not need to be moaning or complaining and in my case it certainly wasn't. Having an opinion on team selection and tactics is part and parcel of being a supporter. You talk about the "complexities of building a team". It is a squad the manager has built, not just a team. The squad should be utilised. As I said before players should be picked on form. It creates competion for places and gives other players a chance to show what they can do.
  2. He was fantastic last season and shone in the match against them. He is clearly a player who should have no problem with the step up but he's not playing well or anywhere near his form from last season. We have the squad so let's use it. Drop McKay for a few games. Let someone else come in and let us see what they can do with some starts. Create competition for places and ensure that player form affects player selection. I rate McKay and think he's one of our best players but sometimes a few games from the bench can be good for a player. Let him come on as a sub and see if he makes an impact. It might be what he needs to bring him back to his best.
  3. McKay was excellent last season. This season he has not played well. Do you honestly think he has been playing well?
  4. Best prospect or not, McKay has not played well this season. He should have been dropped several games ago. The manager has built a squad and we need to use it. He needs to change or rotate at the right times. I think that not dropping McKay and not bringing MOH into the starting XI are the wrong decisions.
  5. Some may disagree with me here. I am very much a supporter of Warburton from a footballing perspective and he still has my full backing. We can guess all we want as to who done what on the day in question but we still clearly don't know the facts. Barton has previous but until you know exactly what happened you can't assume. So for me, at present, the only person who merits criticism in all of this is our manager who made the decision to sign him.
  6. I agree with that although it's worth mentioning that managers are not technically sacked. Thats why they almost always get a pay off. It's to come to an agreement over the remainder of their contract.
  7. Although Goram was the better keeper, McGregor's save against Werder Bremen in the UEFA Cup QF is the best save from a Rangers goalie I have seen.
  8. That's why I used the word "promising" rather than "best". I also don't think they have been here long enough to be classed as injury-prone and written off as a bad signing. Lescott is different. He's a 34 year old defender that had question marks over his fitness. The size of his wage would have made the Lescott deal high risk for our club.
  9. I don't know how anyone could criticise the signings of these 3 players. Without doubt the most promising signings Warburton has made since he came if you ask me.
  10. The tribunal decision from 1997 is what HMRC are saying they are bound by. That's not what I would argue with. It's more what they have agreed with individual clubs since then. Also, the article states: "An HMRC spokesman said: ‘HMRC does not do deals. Image rights payments are always taxable.’" Of course they do and no-one is arguing the payments aren't taxable.
  11. I don't think many would directly compare them as they are totally different circumstances. However, if HMRC are going to use 'moral' arguments like the last appeal tribunal done with us then it has to be applied to HMRC as well. There is no consistency from a moral viewpoint on how HMRC conduct their affairs. This isn't the only example, there are loads of them.
  12. Don't see the point in singling out a player whose only recent start was in a game we won 5-0 and he played a part in a some of the goals. It's clear he should have started league games recently and hasn't. Warburton has his favorites that he doesn't want to drop. It was a mistake to drop Hill after Peterhead and a mistake to drop MOH after QOTS. There are players who seem to be always getting a game based on their performances last season. I do rate McKay but on his current form he should have been dropped weeks ago. And he isn't the only one.
  13. I don't read his column nor that of any ex-footballer. I'm happy to say none of my own money in any way funds Mirror Group or the BBC. Saying that I can understand why ex footballer's choose to work with them. They are trying to build a profile to work in the media and that's why they do it. I'd rather they didn't but it's their choice. I get more pissed off at Rangers fans who buy the rag or give them website hits. He has done and said some stupid things in his career I absolutely 100% agree. However, the point he was making about the Birmingham League Cup win was that it was more of an achievement because Birmingham never win major trophies. He never said it was his best feeling as a footballer. Rangers do win trophies regularly, Birmingham don't. He also mentioned the UEFA Cup Final as another example but said at the end of the day it's about winning things. As for him not being great when he was back from Blackburn? I can't see how you think that. The number of times after matches I would say "How good was Ferguson?" And that's including champions league and old firm matches. He was class IMO. But opinions are what these forums are about. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
  14. Hill and Wilson. 2 games and no goals lost is a good sign. I would stick with them until they are making mistakes or costing goals.
  15. Your both wrong the ref only gave a yellow. But in all honesty I'm leaning towards red as well. It was a poor tackle.
  16. I actually think a yellow was the correct call in terms of the rules. It's clear he's not going for the player and making a genuine attempt to get the ball but catches the player late. For me it was reckless, which is a booking in the rules. If it's a genuine attempt it's not excessive and therefore not a red. Saying that there are a couple of angles look worse and I can see why a lot would say red.
  17. You could separate the player and person in any footballer that played for us and find fault in them. Nobody is perfect. But there has to be a balance. You need to weigh up the faults against what that player done for the club. If they havn't done something terribly bad as in the case of Ferguson then your respect for what they achieved for the club has to surely vastly outweigh the negatives? Others may argue the player and person are the same (literally of course they are) and therefore their character (including their faults/criticism/attitude) is what determined the type of player they were on the park. Either way some fans should not forget what our players achieved for us when describing them or judging them. Separating the player and person as you suggest should not be 'carte blanche' to say what you like about people who are a major part of our club's history.
  18. The transfer request and the transfer itself was a mistake which he acknowledged himself. It's very harsh to hold that against him, club captain or not. He quite clearly was determined to get back to us and you could see his delight when we re-signed him.
  19. Edit: Post removed after I actualltyread the whole article. I hadn't even read the stuff in bold. Apalling.
  20. How could any Rangers fan even remotely dislike Barry Ferguson? If they do they have really short memories. For me, Barry is the best player we have had at Rangers since Laudrup/Gascoigne. His ability was undeniable. He could lift the team with his performance even on the biggest stages and never looked out his depth. Throw in his 15 trophies and you have the greatest Ranger of the modern era. IMO.
  21. He could sign for another club but wouldnt be able to play for them in any competitive games until transfer window opens as far as I know. I reckon there may be some kind of special dispensation under certain circumstances.
  22. We're not gonna get money for him even if he was still employed by Rangers when the transfer window opens.
  23. I think we should beat the fuckers on the park. That's the Rangers way.
  24. I would say Foderingham, Wilson, Hill, Tavernier, Halliday, Holt and Windass were all pass marks yesterday so I must be deluded. The rest of the team were not great and it's that part of the team that are meant to produce the goals. There were probably enough chances to have won the match but in my opinion we still didn't create enough. My earlier point was that the team played ok (not great) yesterday and they played for the full game in comparison to Hamilton, Motherwell and Dundee.
