  1. He should have a word with Andy Cameron. He's bound to have a few contacts in the music business!!
  2. Disagree totally. It has not yet been shown that we have done anything wrong in relation to the EBTs. We will only have breached SPL rules if there was some kind of second contract entitling the players to additional payments from the EBT. As I understand it, the EBT allowed the players to borrow sums in addition to their contractual pay but they did not have a contractual right to it so there was no 'second contract'. Any kind of points deduction for this or subsequent seasons would be a sanction too far. We have been punished enough already and deserve to start off in Division 3 with a clean slate. Re the transfer embargo, I would be prepared to accept as a compromise that for the next two transfer windows we should only be allowed to sign out of contract players. In other words, no new signings which involve a transfer fee.
  3. It's certainly being talked about but, legally, clubs need to give the SFL two years' notice of their intention to resign from the League. There again, the powers that be don't seem to be paying too much attention just now to the rule book.
  4. He's also the chairman of another football club which is about to get a vote on where we play next season. I can guarantee that he would turn down the opportunity to become involved in the way you suggest.
  5. Sporting integrity in my book means that a team finishing second in the League shouldn't be relegated.
  6. Let's get real here. If you think this week's player walkout was bad, just wait for the exodus if we have to play in Division 3! There's a lot of politics going on in the background. Most of the opposition in the SFL to us playing in Division 1 is actually coming from Division 2 & 3 clubs who are eyeing the extra gate money they will receive over the next two seasons. The Division 1 clubs would be quite happy to sever ties with the rest of the SFL so what's currently being proposed is a win/win situation for them. The threat to form an SPL2 is needed to get the Division 2 & 3 clubs to tow the line.
  7. The company died. The club survives. To regain admission to the SFA the club will probably have to agree to settle the footballing debts. TBH, I don't have any problem with that.
  8. I think you're right, so what sanctions should Green be prepared to accept? I'll throw my tuppence in and suggest that (a) no prize money for the next two seasons; (b) free transfers only for the next two seasons; and © settlement of all footballing debts, might be a reasonable outcome. Anything more severe and we should withdraw our application to rejoin the SPL.
  9. The area around Ibrox is a disgrace. However, it is actually working in our favour just now. If land values were higher in Ibrox/Govan then the possibility of selling the stadium to a developer would make liquidation a far more attractive option to HMRC.
  10. I'd shite on your Englishman, Latchford. I'd shite on your Icelander too. I'd shite on your paddy, McCluskey. I wish I'd the arse of a coo.
  11. I think I can hear a Partick Thistle song!
  12. I know, but there are still a few Jacobites to deal with!
  13. May she continue to crush rebellious Scots!
  14. The release clause places an obligation on Rangers to sell the player to any club which offers the specified amount. However, the player must also agree to the transfer. If it is to a club which the player doesn't fancy, he can always say no. Also, if two or more clubs express an interest in a player, there would then be a bidding war and (subject to his agreement to the move) the player could be transferred to whichever club was willing to pay the highest transfer fee. In short, I don't think we should be too concerned. Many of the players will want to stay at Ibrox and those that want to exercise their right to leave will be (a) saving us a fortune in wages; and (b) giving some of the younger players a better chance of getting a regular game.
  15. We have a 6-8 week break just now between May and July. Are you seriously suggesting that we get rid of that break and have it in December and January instead? The season lasts for ten months so it must either run from July to May as it does now or from the beginning of February to the end of November. If it's the latter, you've got to deal somehow with the World Cup/Euro Championship problem. Also, do we really want the Cup Final and crucial last League games to be in November? Not for me, sorry!
  16. I wanted a CVA rather than a newco. I wanted the club to be owned by Rangers supporters not by foreign financiers. Kennedy and Murray ticked all the boxes. I was really impressed by everything they said at today's press conference. However, if what D&P are saying is correct, I now feel badly let down. I know that Kennedy/Murray want to retain as much money as possible to invest in the club post administration, but at the same time they have to remember that the creditors can effectively force an asset sale if they want to. HMRC are not daft. They will know that McGregor, Davis and Lafferty alone could be sold for more than TBK are offering. So, Mr Kennedy, if you genuinely want to save the club, please put in a realistic bid. Miller has shown you how much is required.
  17. I'm not so sure. It will all come down to the extent to which other Rangers directors and/or employees knew (or ought to have known) what Whyte was up to. If we can show that nobody else knew what was going on, we may be able to persuade the Appeal panel that it should be Whtye alone and not the club that should be punished. That quote from Ally about the club being a victim in all of this should be high up on the list of submissions.
  18. Was Ebargo one of the South African lads we were looking at a couple of years ago?
  19. I think the ban will be modified. My guess is that we'll be allowed to sign new players as soon as we've paid off our 'football' debts to the likes of Rapid Vienna, Hearts, Arsenal, Dundee Utd and Inverness Caley.
  20. All very well, but at what price? There are rumours doing the rounds that in return for transferring his shares to the Souness-led consortium, Whyte will get to keep Ibrox and Murray Park and will then lease them back to the club. He will then use the rent money to pay back Ticketus. Don't know how much truth there is in this. I'm only reporting what I'm hearing!
  21. The newco set up by Bill Miller will buy all of the club's assets for £11.2 million and will be able to start trading straightaway. The £11.2 million will be paid to the oldco. The administrators will then have try to persuade the oldco's creditors to accept a CVA. Because of various ongoing court actions, this process is likely to take months, possibly even years. If a CVA is eventually agreed the shares in the oldco will be transferred to the newco. If a CVA cannot be agreed, the oldco will be liquidated.
  22. This thread is outrageous. As I've said on another thread, the TBK deserve much more credit than they've been getting from some folk on here. As I understand things, they were prepared to match Bill Miller's offer but it was their principled stand against the idea of a newco which seems to have counted against them. It would appear that there are simply too many unresolved complications (Ticketus, the delivery of Whyte's shares, ongoing court actions) to make a CVA possible within the next couple of months, so an 'incubation' company now and a drawn-out CVA for the oldco has probably become the only option.
  23. I wanted a CVA rather than a newco so I backed TBK. However, if Bill Miller becomes our new owner, I'll give him my full support. As a passing note, though, I think TBK deserve more credit than they've been getting from some folk on here.
  24. There is a difference, I'm afraid. Wavetower bought 85% of the shares of Rangers FC plc but the assets of Rangers FC plc (stadium, Murray Park, players, SPL membership etc) continued to be owned by Rangers FC plc. Bill Miller is proposing to set up a newco which would buy (for £11.2 million) the assets (not the shares) of Rangers FC plc. Rangers FC plc would then end up with no assets apart from the £11.2 million which would have to be used to pay D&P's fee and then be divided amongst the creditors. I remain convinced that the SPL/SFA would see this as a liquidation and penalise us accordingly.
  25. O would some Power the gift to give us To see ourselves as others see us! It would from many a blunder free us,
