If you have twitter have a look at his timeline. It is quite clear those he is having the conversation with are tims. This is a guy who reports from war zones in countries where he MUST be aware of the culture and what could cause offence as in certain countries such offence can lead to jail time or worse. For an Englishman his age and in his profession not to know the acronym WASP is ludicrous and judging by his chosen company it is clear where the Dalek reference comes from. If he meant no offence it would be extremely easy to apologise (even if he believes he meant no offence) and remove the tweets given how they could be construed.
Fact is he knows fine well what he is referring to and is doing it in an underhanded way so he has deniability, of this I have absolutely no doubt in my mind. He is a sleekit bastard who thinks he's being clever but has been caught out. Again.

Loving the plastic bears, sit and blow gas all day and rubbish the efforts of those who actually attempt to do something in retaliation of what at times is an onslaught from every side, within the media and the governing body for football here.
Instead of sitting, criticising all day, why not offer an alternative solution? Unlikely, I know..

I believe you'll find you have the initial tweet, followed by the "Rangers" comment, a reply from a tim with a green/ white/gold shamrock in his avatar makes the comment of lots of angry wasps here in Oban lately, then Thomson uses his newly learned term of endearment gleaned off the likes of mad phil and MMcG, whose company it's been told he like to keep.
I think he was trying to be cute with his new friends. But if you want to believe a cunt who mocked the disaster before, go right ahead.

Serious point guys, remember about 3 months ago when every cunt was telling us Rangers were not going to make it through the summer, that cunt dave king telling us all how we were doomed, how SFL3 would kill us, well we are still here and we would of killed to get to Deadline day and be signing a player, well we've got to that point so be happy and remember what they said would happen and what has happened has been an amazing comeback fron the brink. No Surrender

I'd dearly love to see paedos fly, preferably from tall buildings to the tune of R-Kelly's I Believe I Can Fly, or maybe Westlife would be more apt with Flying Without Wings but tbh I've no got a clue bud!
I'm sure if you ask the next one to sign up (shouldn't be long now) they'll be more than happy to 'out' themselves while they merrily inform you!

True. But nobody is claiming that unless you love Tina Turner you're not a real Rangers supporter.

On a side note (this thread's full of them anyway!) one of my favorite Loyalist songs is about another regiment of the British Army, that being the 22nd SAS Regiment or 22SAS. Gibraltar.

Did I miss it or has Willie Thornton MM (Scottish Horse Regiment); played over 200 times for Rangers and scored over 100 goals been left out?
He was was also Assistant Manager under Davie White and Willie Waddell; and Interim Manager for two games.

No where in that post does it say "they sing songs that are damaging to the club".
You and I and all the others who keep posting in these threads are constantly going round in circles. I sing the songs and I love doing it. You don't sing them as is your right and I have absolutely no problem with that and I'm not one for labeling folk hand wringers or apologists just because some don't want to sing them or don't agree with them. In all the posts in all the threads not one person seems to have changed their minds about singing or not singing Loyalist songs so instead of constantly posting the same tired old arguments why do the people who don't want them start becoming pro-active and trying to change things? It only takes one brave soul with the courage of their convictions and the motivation to do so to start a revolution. If someone can give me a good answer as to why they shouldn't take this route other than 'it's not up to me/us' I will be impressed.

Yet the Club embraced them for decade after decade to suit it's own agenda in expanding the fan base to maximize revenue streams.
To put things in a slightly different light since all the arguments for and against, good or bad are getting us absolutely nowhere and will probably never change anyone's attitude anyway, if BF1 are the only section singing, and they are singing of the UVF then they are the majority of singers. Since simple majority usually wins, it's fair to say that unless 2 or more sections take up purely Rangers songs they will always have the right to sing whichever song they choose as long as it's not to the detriment of the Club. Most of the songs which were detrimental to our Club and image regarding the new 'naughty songs rule' have been ditched for the most part anyway. Whether Loyalist songs continue to be belted out home and away will be up to the majority of those singing and as long as this is The Blue Order and Union Bears, they will be.

Why don't all the folk who don't want us to sing Loyalist songs or songs of Ulster get together and start a new singing section in BF2? That way when The Blue Order and the Union Bears start belting out a song they don't like they can all stand up as one, turn towards them, put their fingers to their lips and 'shoosh' them til they stop. That might sound radical but I'm sure a good brow beating would have them all acting sheepishly and staring at their feet as they realise the 'error' of their ways. Then they can lead the way as pioneers in their own right by leading the rest of the stadium in Rangers only songs.
Or maybe they just don't have the bottle to actually try and push change through. Healthy debate is a good thing but it only takes you so far, after that decisive action is required and if nobody is going to take it then NOTHING WILL EVER change.

The fact is the majority of Rangers supporters find the so called loyalist support embarrassing!!!
Some of the songs you sing are cringe worthy!
More Rangers supporters are required to be critical of you and what you stand for!
Personally I couldn’t care less what you think of me or the majority of others who share my views
as I have no respect for you!

I think when arrests are made, criminalising people for singing songs is something we should all care about.
And, let's not forget, this law was passed by the SNP - a parcel of rogues who see no hypocrisy in banning the Billy Boys but allowing Flower of Scotland to be played loud and proud at national events?
William Walls was jailed for singing the 'Famine' song with a certain Lord Carloway rejecting the appeal. The self same Lord Carloway who helped in the decision to enforce the transfer ban. A transfer ban the RFFF subsequently funded a QC to challenge in court and (successfully) have the ruling overturned.
Can you see where I'm going with this? When we fight we have a chance and even if we lose we are still heard. If we don't fight at all?
    Well...

Any of them serve in the UVF? Or are the regiments and division which actually have a bona fide link with the club not good enough?

Dont waste your time mate, if you have to try and explain why you should not be singing this stuff in 2012 then the battle with logic is lost. The people that do this have real problems and should seek help.

Keep doffing your cap to any passing law maker. They'll appreciate the surrender.
Freedom of speech can be dangerous I know - it's still a value worth protecting. Even if we get offended from time to time.
But, denying it to stop songs at football is an absurdity and smacks of purest snobbery over any recognition of the dangers it presents.

I have never posted before, but felt i had to after the first couple of away games this season.
I cant get my head round why some fans are still singing about the UVF at Gers games. Dont get me wrong, most fans, including myself have sung these types of songs in the past but there is no place for them anymore.
This is the start of a new adventure for all Gers fans and we should take this opportunity to rid ourselves of certain songs that do us no favours and have nothing to do with Rangers in the 21st Century.
Quite simply, dont complain about what the media and certain journalists write about Rangers fans when some fans refuse to let go the stuff that is now simply irrelevant and you know they will pick up on.
We should be reading about the amazing suppport given to a team in the fourth tier of scottish football and fans who do themselves proud in the way they support their team and not about a small group who refuse to let go of the past.

jump into your time machine and set it for half seven on the morning of July 1'st 1916 and see what they done,of the many units that went over the top expecting a cakewalk towards the German trenches, very few reached their objectives, the 36th was one of them, constantly going forward into withering fire from maxim 08 machine-guns firing in enfilade to capture the schwaben redoubt, one of the strongest points of the German lines, suffering nearly 5000 casualties on that day alone, almost reaching the German artillery positions they eventually had to pull back because of lack of support,of all the units who went into action that day the sacrifices of the volunteers holds the heart of many, myself included and the memorial tower stands proud to their achievements to this very day

    Spot on mate .

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36th_(Ulster)_Division
My Great uncle and Great Grandfather were in the UVF and 36th Ulster Division during WW1. My great uncle died in a German POW camp and my great Grandfather died of his wounds he received July 1916. The charge of the 36th Ulster division at the Somme is legendary, they won 4 Victoria crosses.
"I am not an Ulsterman but yesterday, the 1st. July, as I followed their amazing attack, I felt that I would rather be an Ulsterman than anything else in the world."[5] The final sentences of Captain Wilfred Spender's account furthered his viewpoint
“The Ulster Division has lost more than half the men who attacked and, in doing so, has sacrificed itself for the Empire which has treated them none too well. The much derided Ulster Volunteer Force has won a name which equals any in history. Their devotion, which no doubt has helped the advance elsewhere, deserved the gratitude of the British Empire. It is due to the memory of these brave fellows that their beloved Province shall be fairly treated.
I’m proud of those men as I am of all our troops wherever they come from in the UK and the sacrifice they make to keep us free. At least anytime they are sung about its about heroes not some IRA cowardly terrorist scum or ones covering themselves in shit and staving themselves.
