"Mihajlovic in contention for the Rangers bench: the details. Sinisa Mihajlovic could soon return to the bench, this time not in Italy: the former coach of Bologna and Milan (among others) is in fact running to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who has just been sacked by Rangers Glasgow." Thank Christ it's not as certain as your headline suggested!

Our fullbacks are quite a bit better at going forward than defending, too. Not having them being told to stay back and evidently hating it might make them look interested again.

I don't know of any manager we could possibly appoint and not be more hopeful than confident. But having endured the shambles of the last months, having a manager and coaching team who much of the squad like and listen to feels like grounds for a little blind optimism.

Calm heads on the board realising that we need some stability before the Leverkusen game.

I don't think it means enough to him, to put the required energy into the details required to succeed. Watching him standing on the touchline, limply clapping his hands to encourage players (I think), every insipid post-mortem about yet another shameful performance...do we believe his training sessions or team-talks are any better? That lack of drive or inspiration has to infect the players too, to the point where they can't even get to basic levels of fitness. Unfortunately the ego and the salary means we're likely stuck with him. -

And with *those* wingers to choose from. Rangers winning doesn't matter enough to him, losing evidently doesn't hurt enough. -

Not even ashamed enough to kick someone. St.Johnstone is bad enough when nobody is watching, but just accepting being embarrassed by them and every CL opponent is telling. -

Jack, Helander...others have suggested Roofe...all better, all always injured. I hope Hagi comes back to what he was. Injuries just feel like a distraction from the shambles that is our recruitment and GvB not being good enough. -

"You don't speak for me, etc..." The board will do as they like and we'll like it for as long as we're told to. -

Every other centre back we have has struggled, too. Being introduced into first team football, surrounded by mediocrities, coached by the most uninspiring, directionless management team...he should be the first to get a bit of patience. -

This. They look fragile much of the time anyway, slightest sign of a setback turns into a scudding. -
Think it means he gets a seat at the table where the board collectively discuss the need to build a squad around his 4-3-3 philosophy, collectively listen to his need for quality wingers with pace, guile and end-product, collectively tell him he can have Kent, Wright, Matondo and Sakala, collectively decide that Gio is happy with the summer recruitment.

The midfield looks better for energy and effort alone, but after that I'm not very confident about winning a league with that side. Indeed. We're just as likely to lose as many as come back given the seeming inability to get players beyond a very basic level of fitness. A month on the training ground with the manager might bore a few more into hamstring strains. -

Assuming it's a 4-3-3 with GvB still in charge, every player available for selection after the World Cup, what line-up would you pick? -

We'll be lucky to be in the same postcode as their midfield, let alone close them down. Escape without history-making embarrassment, call the clusterfuck over.
