  1. Aluko, who will eventually be surpassed by Templeton.
  2. Yes, I agree. I do not think withdrawing their membership is a realistic outcome. I do think that clubs in the SPL are slightly baffled at the agenda of a certain few clubs within their structure, and are beginning to find their voice. The SFL now have the number 1 asset in the game within their organisation, and while that remains, the SPL will limp along.
  3. Id go with those clubs as well. It makes absolutely no sense for SPL clubs in financial disarray to continually kick the biggest club in the land. They need us desperately to survive.
  4. I did not see the game today, and have only just managed to see the goals. I commented on another thread about how positive it was to see McLeod breaking from midfield, and influencing the game in attacking sense. Previously our midfield have been to static and played with very little invention. So from those that attended, was McLeod attempting to advance the entire match, and do we think this was a tactic employed by our management? Either way, I am encouraged by this. With regard to Aird making an impression on the wing, that is excellent news. With Templeton out, this is a welcome bonus. So again having not seen the game, would anyone start him against Motherwell? I would love to see McKay moved infield this midweek.
  5. Did not see the game, so cheers for that. Good to see Lewis McLeod scoring the second goal and breaking from midfield for the third. This season we have desperately missed a midfield runner supporting the forwards and driving beyond the back-line, so that is a really positive sign. If McLeod can continue to add an attacking dimension to his game, then we have a real player on our hands.
  6. http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/sfl-division-three/newco-rangers-must-answer-oldco-charges-insists-commission-chief-1-2542646? [/quote 'The SPL has warned Rangers, who have said they will not acknowledge the commission, that such a stance could be potentially self-harming should the commission’s verdict go against the Ibrox club and it chooses to appeal'. Unbelievable.
  7. I have always been frustrated by 'our approach' to throw ins. We have watched players and managers come and go, but dreadful throw ins have been an ever constant. If we are lucky a single player shows for the ball.
  8. The SFL are now the most powerful organisation within Scottish Football, they have the ultimate asset: Rangers. The SFL in that article are effectively calling for resignations. I think we know who.....
  9. PRESSURE last night mounted on the SPL and SFA as the Scottish League revealed they booted OUT calls for Rangers to be stripped of trophies. A top SFL source confirmed yesterday’s SunSport exclusive that Hampden bosses wanted Rangers stripped of nine trophies. Our source said: “We were given a first draft of proposed sanctions on June 25 — and we sent it back the same day saying we wanted no part of it. “That was the unequivocal SFL stance for a very simple reason — in this country you’re innocent until proven guilty. “At the time we were asked to strip Rangers of their League Cup wins, they hadn’t been charged with a thing. “When we received the letter on June 25 it hadn’t been discussed in any shape or form. It was simply presented to us and we felt its contents, frankly, were outrageous. “It smacked of a witchhunt and we said we wouldn’t be party to it. “Charles Green was quoted during the week as saying the whole process investigating Rangers was ‘fundamentally misconceived’ and we agree with that 100 per cent. “It’s clear from the documents you have seen that sanctions were being openly discussed before anyone had been found guilty of anything. “The Sun has now seen that this paperwork exists and the SFA and SPL would do themselves a big favour by forgetting this notion of stripping Rangers of titles.” The SFL’s hardline stance is bound to put the other two ruling bodies under pressure to explain their reasons for wanting to punish Gers in this way. The top brass wanted Gers’ owner Green to accept being stripped of nine trophies — five SPL titles and four Scottish Cups — in exchange for the newco having the chance to be parachuted into Division One. But there was no mention of the six League Cups Rangers won during the spell in question. Green flatly rejected the offer as Gers have yet to be found guilty of any misuse of EBTs. An independent commission — appointed by the SPL — will begin a hearing on November 13 regarding the alleged undisclosed payments. Rangers have already refused to co-operate with the hearing — and Green faces SFA Judicial Panel charges for his comments about the process. But Lord Nimmo Smith has hit back at critics, insisting the commission he will chair IS fully independent of the SPL. He said: “It’s fundamental to the constitution of a body with investigatory and disciplinary powers, such as the present commission, that it must act independently of the person or body appointing it. “None of us would have accepted this appointment on any other basis.” http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/leaguedivision3/4552496/SFLs-EBT-Fury.html#ixzz27FDUquJl
  10. Hopefully red and black socks again next season. The kit this year is fine for a season, but not mad keen on the red socks for an extended period of time.
  11. On the evidence we have seen, he is a million miles away from the standard required. We often play the lone striker, so it is only fair we judge him in that role. He lacks the basics to to be a top class footballer, and regardless of how many games he has played, players of decent quality can control the ball. His main attribute appears to be his strength, which is slightly tragic.
  12. SANCTIONS ... Charles Green Exclusive By ROGER HANNAH Published: 30 minutes ago 1 SUNSPORT has seen documentary evidence that Hampden bosses asked Rangers to accept the loss of FIVE league titles and FOUR Scottish Cups. The draft papers were given to Gers chief executive Charles Green at a top-secret summit this summer. Top brass wanted Green to accept “EBT sanctions” in return for newco Gers getting the chance to be parachuted into Division One. The package of punishments — instantly REJECTED by Green — would have stripped Gers of NINE major trophies won between 2001 and 2011. They were NOT asked to give up any of their League Cup wins. Details of the offer, made during discussions involving Green, the SPL, SFA, SFL and administrators Duff and Phelps, emerged last night. Had Green accepted the EBT sanctions, he’d have agreed to “(i) the withdrawal from Rangers FC, RFC and Sevco of the award and status of Champion Club (as defined in SPL Rules) of the Scottish Premier League for each and all of Seasons 2002/03, 2004/05, 2008/09, 2009/10 and 2010/11; (ii) the withdrawal from Rangers FC, RFC and Sevco of the award and status of winner of the Scottish Cup for each and all of Seasons 2001/02, 2002/03, 2007/08 and 2008/09”. Among a list of “Agreements and Undertakings” which Green was asked to accept were: “(i) accept and agree to be bound by each and all of the EBT Sanctions; (ii) the SFA and the SPL agree that no further sanctions will be imposed with respect to or concerning the EBT Payments and Arrangements; and (iii) RFC and Sevco shall not directly or indirectly make any claim and/or representation to have won any of the Championships and/or Cups which are the subject of any and all of the EBT Sanctions”. It’s understood Green rejected the offer of EBT sanctions as Gers have still to be found guilty of any misuse of the Trusts. An independent commission appointed by the SPL will begin a hearing on November 13 regarding the alleged undisclosed payments. HMRC is expected to announce the findings of its first-tier tribunal hearing on the EBTs within weeks. Gers have already refused to co-operate with the former hearing. And Green is facing an SFA charge of bringing the game into disrepute after claiming the process was “fundamentally misconceived”. The leaked papers appear to add weight to Green’s assertion that a range of penalties have been considered before any guilt is proved. SunSport has also seen an exchange of correspondence between HMRC and the SPL dating back to October and November 2010. Yet there was no official Hampden probe into Gers’ use of Trusts until earlier this year. But with Green having already threatened to take his case to law, the emergence of the secret documents shows stripping of titles has been on the Hampden agenda since the close-season. Earlier this month, Green said: “The club cannot continue to participate in an SPL process we believe is fundamentally misconceived.” Ads by Google
  13. I hope Hemmings is back fit, as we need all the players we can get. Ultimately though, on the evidence I have seen, I am far from convinced. In the Kilmarnock and Hamburg away games he was dreadful. His first touch is really poor, and I am not sure what his main asset is? He is no kid either, he is now 21.
  14. We pride ourself on loyalty to our football club, not individuals who are failing in their job. I sense you are indicating that McCoist will leave if he continues to flop in the job, but he will not quit.
  15. If Ally left of his own free will tomorrow, and wanted to remain a manager, what level of club would employ him?
  16. The 'old rookie' I was referring to is Gough, not McCall. Personally I want a manger with zero connection to the club. Somebody completely fresh, who has not been influenced by Walter in any shape or form.
  17. Do not want Gough anywhere the rangers job. As a coach/manager he has achieved absolutely zilch. Why would we want an old rookie? Instead of people listing names that are unattainable or undesirable, we should let people apply. Pick out the best candidates and interview them, and then hire the correct man. The calibre of manager we can attract will still be reasonably high.
  18. You are right, its not absolutely crucial we change the manager immediately. It is just my personal opinion that Ally is not good enough, full stop. The only way I would be happy for Ally to remain in the post for a considerable period longer, would be if he brought in a couple of coaches. Preferably European, who have a background in attacking passing football. Our current back-room team look out their depth without Walter telling them what to do. Ally needed to freshen up that department when he got the gig, but for some reason went with what he had.
  19. Ally behaved impeccably during the Admin days. His leadership will not be forgotten, but he acted just like any Rangers fan would in that situation. If you were in charge during the suffering, would you have chucked it? Of course not, no Rangers fan in that position would. So while he deserves credit, the lashings of praise are over the top and bordering on silly. Ally has served the club extremely well spanning nearly 2 decades, which has rightly seen him rewarded financially. Its been a good deal. He has done well for us, and we have done well for him. The problem is now; he is no longer doing well for us. He is now an extremely well paid manager who is failing to reach the basic standards required to manage our mighty fine football club. So what do we do, limp on and flounder because of our gratitude to the man for non footballing issues? No, we offer him a position elsewhere in the club and remove him from his current role. Its repeated often on here, but it is true. There is no room for sentiment at our club, certainly not in such a crucial position.
