  1. I heard the same thing when we were knocked out the League Cup, Champions league qualifying, Europa league and then the Scottish Cup last season. The belief that Rangers getting knocked out any competition can be perceived as a positive is startling. We are Rangers, we do not demean or undermine any competition we enter, we want to win everything we can. Posts suggesting that defeats can be used to our advantage is scandalous. The high standards are slipping on the park, and the opening post suggests standards are slipping with the fans too. 'Concentrate on Division 3', really?
  2. '100% assured'? Strong words. Blind faith springs to mind.
  3. He deserves a chance, but as somebody said, this is a familiar story under Ally. Players being frozen out for no apparent reason. Considering our midfield is utterly abysmal, it is shocking he does not at least get a opportunity. Can he play a forward pass? Can he dominate the midfield? because Black, McLeod and Lee are far too similar. Black in particular has been poor since he joined, he does absolutely nothing to influence the game.
  4. Andy Little and Ross Perry are both injury prone. With a smallish squad its important we can keep as many players fit as possible, but with these two its almost impossible. To say Ross Perry has a bad back would be an understatement.
  5. I may be a pessimist, but I am extremely positive about being so.
  6. Really good post, and I agree with it all bar giving the manager more time. Granted, I am not against him staying in the role at the moment. I suspect we are similar ages, and it is nice to read a post that is honest about how Walter had us playing. The amount of times I would leave Ibrox or an away ground with my dad as a youngster frustrated with the cautious approach was frequent. I said at the time Ally was appointed that for him to be successful he had to be completely his own man. He had to adopt a more adventurous style of play that would excite the fans. He has not really done that and his football is rather similar to Smith. It is clear and rather unfortunate that Walter has influenced Ally too much. Its weird to think that a striker like Ally, who thrived on service, would line up the side the way he does at times.
  7. Good, and fair response. The results and performances against Celtic were excellent at Ibrox. He deserves credit for that. Europe does not need discussed. The Hearts (SFL3 feeder club) and Aberdeen results were great, but the Hearts (SFL3 feeder club) game in particular was abysmal. His team selection was hideous, as he was playing players needlessly out of position. I think at Tynecastle that day we had 2 shots on goal the entire match? Aberdeen away was much the same performance and odd team selection. He then used this style of play as a template for the majority of away games, and even at Ibrox on occasion (Inverness, St Johnstone). I think we even went to Easter Road and played Bartley and Papac in centre midfield through choice. It was clear that those tactics were only going to be successful for a limited period of time, and yet he foolish preserved regardless. With regard to the style of football, have you been impressed?
  8. Strange that some posters might actually share an opinion that is not the same as yours? Yes, shocking.
  9. maybe he was upset the 'banter' was poor? That is the reason for most of problems is it not?
  10. Working on what? Its not visible whatever he is doing.
  11. What the hell are you talking about? Answer the question and stop wallowing in the misery of the first half of the year. All the financial problems are gone, let me repeat they are gone. I sense in 10 years you will still be spouting the same response after every defeat. With your attitude the club will never progress.
  12. Training still finishes at 12. just like it did in the 1980s.
  13. I am baffled people can discount a whole year of football as if it did not happen. We went into financial meltdown in February and the landscape then change. Even if you ignore the results from last season, are you telling me that Ally's tactics, formation and style of play would have been significantly different? The problems I saw last year are still visible this year, so how do you explain that? Last year we saw what Ally had to offer as a manager even on a basic level, and he is clearly lacking in so many areas. He started out as a poor manager, and has shown next to nothing in terms of improvement. Instead of defending him to to the hilt, without even considering the evidence in front of your eyes, why should Ally be given endless time? What are the positive signs?
  14. We will win the league, not in the slightest bit concerned. If for some ridiculous reason we did not win the league, then I am sure we would go up via a play-off. Although I have no idea how they actually work or where you have to finish to qualify. Regardless, its a formality.
  15. Have you noticed all your reasons for slating people for 'turning their back on Ally' are not based on football matters? The Admin days are thankfully long gone, and I am already sick of it being used as a 'legitimate excuse' for mediocrity. Time to start judging people on the here and now, and not on sentiment.
  16. The attention football receives means supporters hold football managers in high regard. Look at Harry Redknapp, a man who admits he can barely read or write, yet has been a relatively successful manager. Its weird how supporters of the sport tell each other they know nothing about the game, and that the man in the suit on the touchline does. People have been attending Ibrox for decades and yet we hear fans and pundits say we 'don't understand the game'. Here is a question. If you put the wives and girlfriends of all EPL managers in charge for the season, who would compete for the league?
  17. I do not want Ally sacked, just moved to another role within the club. If you are incapable of delivering what I want for my club then I want you out. Loyalty on this matter is not even an issue. In fact using 'loyalty' as a reason to criticise supporters who think the manager is hopelessly out his depth is rather distasteful.
  18. Ally has been in charge for 16/17 months. If he was going to implement a passing/attacking philosophy on the team it would have been visible by now. We have no style, and no direction. The football under Ally has not progressed, just the same old percentage football.
  19. Forget the league table, we will finish first. The inadequacies in Ally as a a manager are glaring. With regard to on field matters, he has failed to implement any meaningful style of play on the team. His sole tactic away from home appears to be the long punt up the park. I have alluded to this before, and I will do again. How do we judge Ally as a manager against such abysmal opposition? Victories of course are sufficient for a sizeable chunk of the support, but for others, and myself, that is not enough. For our wilderness years to be beneficial to the club in the longer term, we need to adopt a modern and fresh approach to our game. This means, ball on the deck and passing and moving. We cannot play as well as Barcelona, but we can give it a damn good go. I am not thinking about next week, or next season, I am thinking about 4, 5 years down the line, when we are back in Europe and competing in the top flight. Too many are concerned with the short term, but the short term is not what concerns me. It is the long term. The question the support need to ask themselves is, are we happy to stroll through the division with the sole aim of just doing enough? or do we want a bit more. If like me, you want Rangers to develop a positive and fresh outlook to the game, then clearly Ally is not the man for this job. Its not personal, how could it be with Ally.
  20. I was surprised he took Dean Shiels off. Granted he was not having a great game, but I thought he was one of our better players.
  21. Best excuse yet, complete nonsense. I wonder if in Spain they blame poor results on the fact that the 'banter' is not as good as it used to be in the dressing room. Far, far to much emphasis at our club is placed on 'banter' and 'team spirit' to the detriment of professionalism. Constant excuses and drivel will not see the club perform to the standards we expect. If its guff, say its guff. No more excuses for overpaid garbage. Why condone mediocrity?
  22. The tackle was so late I missed it. Did the guy even get booked? The referee was abysmal.....again.
  23. Yes, I had made my mind up by October last year he was out his depth. I look forward to the day I am proved wrong and you and others can tell me how stupid I have been.
  24. Its just a discussion mate, its not a big deal. You want to give him time, I have made up my mind.
