  1. Lambias says McDowall could stay on beyond the end of the season. Dear god.
  2. Very funny, the name John Spencer didn't ring any bells with me but I was cleaning out old copies of Rangers News today and on the first issue when Ally became boss, after it moved to monthly editions, there is a big interview with Spencer in it.
  3. Think it's pretty much starting to look like he did not offer his resignation at all. I'm not sure where the story came from because there was no official statement from Rangers and Ally was not commenting on it so, like someone else has said, I think he has been asked to resign and said no.
  4. I was panicking, I thought he'd thrown his hat into the ring when I read the topic.
  5. Has to be Billy Davies. A modern manager who has experience t the top level.
  6. No. He's left Preston after doing a really good job to accept the job at Derby. He promoted them from the Championship against the odds but they weren't ready for the PL and couldn't compete. He resigned due to disagreements with the board. At Forest he had them competing in the play offs every years and was really revered by the fans before being unfairly sacked. Second spell didn't work out so well. He overachieved on small budgets and he's a modern manager though which is what we need as opposed to the old school boss. I'd be delighted to have him here.
  7. If Terry Butcher is given the job ahead of Billy Davies I will be utterly deflated. Has to be Davies.
  8. I'm sure I remember an interview a while ago saying that if he didn't win back to back promotions then that would be a failure and we should judge him on that. So I would imagine failure to win promotion this season and he would walk?
  9. I've already made my reasons for supporting McLeish before but he's at Gent now, and doing very well, so that options out. I'd like to see Billy Davies in the mean time, and this is in no way because of his previous Rangers connection, but because I think he's a good modern manager. He did a piece for Bbc Sport while he was still at Forest and it gave you an insight into training, his video analysis, how he complies reports on all the players etc. I'd give anything to have a manager so prepared now.
  10. I thought this was going to be a really funny thread about what we think McCoist etc do during the week. That could be pretty good actually!
  11. Wonder what the Green an co sympathisers will say to this? These results are a result of actions on their watch. We warned about this at the time. I am glad that some of the findings have come out in the report though and I just hope Wallace can steer us through this. C'mon Rangers!
  12. Agree McCall has done a really good job at Motherwell but there's just something about him where I can't see him having the personality to deal with the massive pressure at Rangers, deal with egos, win titles etc.
  13. Think McLeish is a really underrated manager and he has gained a lot of experience since leaving first time, both international and in the EPL. Despite his criticisms I think he was successful at Birmingham, winning promotion from championship, finishing 9th in Premier League (if a more 'flavour of the month' manager did that straight from championship he'd be getting touted for big jobs) and won Carling Cup. Although they were relegated that season they had a number of horrendous injuries and boardroom promises of funds failed to materialise. Likewise at Villa, he was brought in to do a job of cutting costs while keeping them in the league and he did it. I think he would be a massive asset to us now after his experiences and always speaks intelligently about the game in any recent interviews I've seen of him.
  14. Billy Davies is now out of work after his spell at Forest. I know he may be viewed as problematic by some and he obviously does not come without faults but I think he would be an improvement on what we have now. For a start he wouldn't put up with the dross performances we have become accustomed to as of late. He is also a very meticulous manager in terms of preparation for matches, spending hours doing video analysis in his own house and compiling thorough reports on all his players. I think that's the kind of perpetration we've been lacking of late. As another option, I don't think McLeish would be the worst option by any stretch of the imagination. Again I know he is not without faults but he has spent a significant amount of time managing in the Epl and Championship since he left us which he will have gained a lot of experience from. Aside from the perception in some quarters he's actually had a fair bit of success in England: gaining promotion with Birmingham to the premier league, guiding them to 9th the subsequent season and winning the Carling Cup. I know that season led to relegation but that season was plagued with injuries and a decreasing budget. Likewise at Villa, keeping them up was probably a decent achievement giving he had to majorly cut costs. It was a club he couldn't have turned around in one season. Get the feeling that if he was a more 'flavour of the month' manager such as Lambert then he might get more respect. He always comes across as an intelligent manager when I've seen him in interviews recently. I don't think we are only limited to people with previous associations with the club but these would be worth considering.

  16. I was with my mate in Dundee yesterday and we decided to go for a quick tour around Dens. We were taken around by Pat Linney, Dundee keeper from the 61 championship winning side. Really nice guy. Also bumped into Bomber who was speaking at a Pensioners Meeting that day mainly for old Dundee players. Seemed on good form. I've always quite liked seeing Dundee do fairly well, specially with Bomber at the moment. I spend a lot of time in Edinburgh now so I don't mind seeing Hearts do well. I do wish them the best in terms of their money problems and hope the Foundation can steady the balance books. I also have always liked East Fife for some unknown reason. Just wondered if there were any other Scottish teams you didn't mind. Realise some might say none! But just out of interest.
  17. People who say they can't stand fans of other clubs. So you have no friends who support clubs other than Rangers? That's pretty narrow-minded in itself. Other fans have digs that we were in trouble a bit ago. So? They support other clubs. If it was the other way around, pretty sure a lot of you would glee over other clubs having difficulties. I have plenty of friends that support other clubs, we have a bit of banter, take the piss, and get on. Some folk need to grow up!
  18. [quote name=ScottBF2' timestamp='1376410808' post='1061288669] Tartan Army are the Scotland fans, they're completely relevant when discussing the game. They're skirt wearing, arse baring teuchters and people have a right to voice their opinion of them. I'm from Aberdeen. That makes me less of a Rangers fan???
  19. I believe that our great fanbase who rallied together in our time of need saved our club. Even if Green was the Knight in shining armour, that gives him no mandate to do whatever he wants with our club. It breaks my heart what is going on now. I want Rangers men in Rangers.
  20. What is happening to our club now?? This is heartbreaking. If this turns out to be Green orchestrating power for himself we should do our beat to starve that scumbag out. He did not save our club! We, the fans, saved our club. I do not want money-grabbing chancers like him anywhere near my club. If it's evident that he is trying to force Rangers men out of the door, I will not give him a penny in any more ticket-sales/merchandise sales etc. Time to rally together to save our club. Green Out!
  21. Don't want to make a big thing of this but it was in the back of my mind last few days. When Walter was appointed as Chairman his remit was to restore stability in the boardroom. All was going well until the last day or so. Given Walter's opinion on Charles and the fact he was never comfortable with him as CEO, did Walter not have the power as Chairman to veto Green's appointment as consultant? If he did, I'm astounded he let the move go through.
