This shouldn't just be about the money men, normal fans should be able to contribute to any new takeover IMO. Yes the money men would prop up the deal but fans money would help add to any potential deal.

The way I see it is if you bring a player in on trial and are impressed as McCoist was and you can afford to do a deal then that's what happens, however we obviously couldn't afford to put a package together.
