Spending clearly needs to be tightened. That is a given. However, in a few months, we will be halfway back to the top division (whatever it's called) and the path that we're on is to be as prepared as possible for this. Yes, Ally is somewhat inexperienced and we don't always see what he is getting at and, certainly, he gets it wrong at times. His wage is definitely over-inflated for the situation we are in. However, he could have been earning more with his "TV career" instead. He has offered to take a wage-cut and this must be explored, as should all the others outgoings the club is paying. This is the season where we must begin to see the shape of the squad that will enter the top division in a couple of years. Suitable tactics must be developing, key positions must be filled and older players must be clearly supporting the increasing role the younger players have. A player like Daly may not be playing then but Clark must have been prepared well by him for playing top-level football - surely that is why he is there. It is a gamble to pay Ally so much, and hopefully this can be reduced, but to change mid-way through the three-year project would be a bigger gamble.
