We need a team of players who can perform their role well, not a team of players with no decipherable position or role in the team who can "give it a go" in a number of different areas.

we are not talking about a "goal production line" where everyone has a narrowly defined role. We are talking about a competitive team sport where opposition try to suss ur weakness and score against u and prevent u from scoring. The more restrictions ur striker has, the easier the latter is. Do u expect a striker to help defend when under pressure, hammer up the field when the ball breaks and score? I do. Dont think boydy would tho.

We are trying to build a team with no money to spend on transfers . We don't have a proper scouting network as far as I'm aware . We are playing in the second tier of Scottish football . If there are any better goal scorers out there available and willing to play in our league who are they ?

in what way does buying a player with known deficiencies in his game make up for lack of a scouting network? The second tier is a lot harder than u think as well. There is more of a work ethic in the opposition. We have no money so any spend has to be targetted on team players who contribute and dont set preconditions on their participation. What if a defender decided only to make clearances when the ball was at his feet?? To think we let little go.

Kris Boyd will always guarantee goals. I can't not see him hitting 20+ this season but he needs the service and unfortunately we lack a consistent, quality creative midfielder.

You know what you get with Boyd. Give him the service and he will get you goals. He won't get the ball 30 yards from goal, beat three men and smash one in the top corner.

yes they are relevant. What if we meet them in a cup. We are trying to build a team to challenge next season as well as get us promoted. We have a league of hard working opponents to get passed.
