I've never been convinced about Ally as a manager and he definitely overspent on fringe players last summer. However, find it difficult to be too critical considering the circumstances he had to contend with in August 2012. Hearts didn't have to pull a team together from next to nothing in a month with a fan base demanding they hit the ground running and win their league. In these circumstances, it is little wonder we had to pay way over the odds to get a few experienced campaigners in our team. Although, his reluctance to play young players is an issue, to suggest we have missed some sort of golden opportunity to build a team full of youngsters totally ignores the fact that we probably have 4 or 5 at most of the required standard. Our fan base has many great qualities but having patience and giving support to young players struggling to find their feet in the first team is not one of them.
