Willie Thornton, just turned 16 signed for Rangers that morning.
After signing, Bill Struth instructed him to go straight back to school and finish his studies. Here's Willie doing just that with his two mates.
Weeks later in 1936 Thornton made his debut against Patrick Th. Alongside him was another debutant, 15yr Willie Waddell. Together they spent their whole playing careers with Rangers spearheading the Rangers attack culminating in the first ever Scottish treble being won in 1948
willie's playing career was interrupted by World War 2. He served his country with distinction receiving the Military Medal for his bravery.
Later in his career he again teamed up with Waddell as his asst manager in the late 1960's. He and Waddell stayed close friends throughout their lives and passed away weeks apart in 1990
Willie Thornton never made the Rangers Dream Team but I suspect that was because very few of the voters ever seen him play.
He is however a true Rangers Legend

As much as I have no time for the board, he was underperforming and they obviously thought so too so when given an inch they took a mile and rightly got rid of them.
No hard feelings towards Mark and Davie though from me, Ally was an embarrassment in charge and they came in and gave us our pride back as well as a win over the manks whilst in a division below them. It just wasn't to be long term.

trying to find other bears addresses publicly is one of the most horrible things I have seen today, and I include the wee jay posts in that.
Trying to name, shame, DOX, and get other bears sacked, over fucking posts on an internet forum, is way way worse than a couple of off taste, offensive posts.
please, someone tell me Im wrong?
