  1. Warburton out. Boyd & Daly to be reinstated.
  2. "Good team. Needs more Kevin Kyle though." Ally McCoist
  3. Dave McPherson was a terrible player and is obviously higher than a pilot's piece box.
  4. Probably closer to the Barcelona set-up, which is Cruyff's evolution of Total Football just lifted straight from Ajax. The 433 formation is not negotiable regardless of who the manager is, but with slight evolutions to the playing style. They are a more direct and certainly a faster side than they were 5-6 years ago but with basically the same formation. The youths all play the same right the way right down to age groups where they play only 7-a-side, they just play without players in the "defence" positions, basically making everyone comfortable on the ball. I'm delighted with signing younger players but the down side is that you should generally expect less consistency from more youthful players. I hope they get the patience they'll need from the crowd. If not we can always re-sign Jon Daly to play the Suarez role.
  5. When I was a young pup (late 80's we're talking here) a friend of the family worked for David Murray and used to get me the odd trip to Ibrox to get shown around and meet the players, see the blue room etc. I maybe only got to go 2-3 times but I'll always remember Mark Walters turning up early, wearing a suit, being super friendly, signing all the footballs for charity......same with Chris Woods. McCoist was late, rude, dressed like a fud, complaining about having to sign all the footballs and didn't really talk to us at all. It may have only been a couple of times but it always coloured my opinion of him.
  6. One of the most underrated players we had, technically. Don't think I ever saw him take more than two touches on the ball. Glad to see him getting some love.
  7. If he goes through Scott Brown like a dodgy curry it's a Yes from me.
  8. I know Davie Weir is very highly regarded at Everton, as he is everywhere he played. A friend of mine went to a dinner there a while ago and asked about Weir, the general consensus was "If he'd have had an ounce of pace he would have been the finest defender the premiership has seen." I think he's regarded as highly for his conduct as for any technical ability.
  9. Came out of the dugout to give the odd instruction but I think everyone pretty much knew their job. Certainly wasn't out kicking every ball and wasn't screaming at anyone. Seemed very professional, as you'd expect from a city trader I suppose. There was some nice footballers there, although a few of the forwards were quite small, but worked hard and had nice footwork......basically the opposite of Jon Daly. We may or may not pick up these exact players, but I'm hopeful he can find some value from the same sorts of places. He seems to have rustled up a few youngsters from the finges of PL clubs with big squads like Spurs and competitive youth set ups like Everton. If we can get these kinds of layers in, get them hooked on the atmosphere and offer regular European football in a couple of seasons I think we could be on to something. Hopefully he can find a route in to first team football for some Murray Park products too.
  10. Been to see Brentford a couple of times last season and this was exactly how he set up. Striker Gray looked like he had a decent touch, turn and a good bit pace, CAM was a young lad called Pritchard who I think might have been on loan from Spurs, also looked like a good wee player - nice touch, pass and two footed. Used opposing footed wingers, left foot on the RW and vice versa which drives them inside while the full backs bomb forward. Had a really attack minded RB who was great going forward, can't remember his name though. Wasn't too keen on their two CM players though. One big lad just broke up play and there was another player Douglas who I never saw play well but I was told by fans I just saw an unusually bad game from him. One time I was moaning about him all game then he popped up and scored the winner. In fairness, he was off the pace but he never stopped running. I'd take just about any of the players I've mentioned next season though.
  11. McCall seems to be a "make do and mend" kind of manager. I think we're looking for more of a "root and branch" kind of manager.
  12. If Wallace is really on £15k I'd offer Eckersley £3k and take whatever we could get for Wallace in the transfer market. Free up funds/wages for the CB and RB we need.
  13. I know a few Hertz fans that are unhappy they're letting Eckersley go. Didn't see much of him last season though. How would you guys feel about getting him as a squad man?
  14. The English Premiership is the richest football league in the world. The English championship is the 4th richest so I would consider Warburton a coup if he comes. The SPL is the 24th richest league in the world, sitting between the Spanish 2nd Division and Colombian top league. I think getting Vuckic would be a marquee signing when you consider we're not even in the SPL yet. I'd also love to get Allan if possible, but maybe spending too much on two players in the same position. Personally I'd settle for a squad of players who have been tracked by experienced scouts, who act like professionals, being paid a reasonable wage to try hard in training and on the pitch. And who don't like Nando's.
