  1. Spot on IMO. Can't understand the attitude by the majority towards the signing policy at all. Haven't we been crying out for the past 3 seasons to give the youth a chance. Now it seems like we might be doing it and everyone starts shitting themselves. Some people just like a moan I think.
  2. Absolutely spot on. Couldn't agree more. People seem to be saying they're happy for a fresh start but still complain we're not splashing the cash right now. We should be able to build a squad to win the championship for fairly cheap with a bit of coaching and good tactics. Just because we should doesn't mean we will though.
  3. McEachran's a good player. Don't know what Brentfords midfield is like this season but I can't see Macleod getting in the team before him. They'd probably be more likely to send him out on loan to another championship team to give him some experience of the league I think. Unless the manager doesn't rate him at all and just wants to sell him, in which case he could come back. But he said recently he wants to try prove himself in England so I doubt it this season.
  4. In a 4-2-3-1 formation, you tend to have 2 more defensive midfielders so it could work.
  5. I don't particulary rate him either but it seemed kris1984 was naming the players that were in the squad and would be fighting for a place. Seemed like his name should be in the mix.
  6. Don't remember begrudging anyone a wage. In fact I thought I was fairly clear that I didn't have a problem with him being paid. Obviously I wasnt.
  7. True. I think a lot of people think we're going to run away with the league. Like you said, they could be in for a shock. If Hibs can start the season with the form they showed in the latter half of the season it could be close. Especially given we have a new manager and presumably quite a few new players come the start of the season. That being said, I think we will win the league. But not run away with it.
  8. No sympathy for them on my end either. They showed their true colours by complaining to the media about other things rather than facing the fact that they couldn't cut it at Rangers and performed terribly. Even if it was handled poorly by Rangers, the best thing to do would be to accept it and move on quietly. They haven't helped their "cause" in any way by saying what they said. Smacks of sour grapes.
  9. Also apparently fails to see that a lack of professionalism and class is the reason he left the club second time round Having said that, I do agree with him. We should've dealt with it with a bit more dignity. Two wrongs and all that. Just think it's a bit rich coming from him.
  10. Maybe seems a little worse right now because it's grass court season. Grass doesn't seem to be his best surface at all. I don't really know how well he's been playing this season though to be fair, I don't follow his career particularly closely.
  11. Just because someone goes out doesn't necessarily mean they played poorly.
  12. Seems a bit extreme. Surely while he was at Brentford things were done mostly his way. Especially seeing as he was the sporting director first and then manager. Then when the changes came in he felt he couldn't be successful with, they decided to part ways. Not sure I'd say we're getting someone else. Especially not at this stage in his Rangers career.
  13. Yeah that would be the sensible thing to do. MW seems like a sensible fellow.
  14. My point isn't that he didn't deserve to get paid, it's that he was well paid and I'm fairly confident that's the reason he stood by us, not the fact he was doing it only out of loyalty. As I said in my first post, there's no such thing as loyalty in football and if he'd been given higher wages elsewhere he would've jumped ship too. All speculation of course. Just my opinion.
  15. Even if we had 2 players in each position, that's still only 22 players, which is still a pretty small squad.
  16. Fair enough but they should still provide competition hopefully. And that means you rate Templeton and Law?
  17. I agree and don't think it will necessarily be a bad thing. I think some of the players (young ones especially) deserve a fair crack at the first team under coaches and a manager that knows what they're doing and has a system. It gives him a chance to have a good look at the squad and see what needs strengthened in Jan and also who has good potential, rather than just buying a whole new team maybe unnecessarily. I agree with the Hibs point too. I think we could be in danger of making the same mistake we made last season and assuming we'll run away with the league. Hibs were probably the best team in the league in the last third of the season last year and if they continue that we could be in trouble if we don't hit the ground running.
  18. What about McKay and Aird as wide men and Clark, Hardie and Gallagher up top. Not sure of Crawfords best position. We definitely need more central midfielders.
  19. They stood by the club when we were in trouble but all while being VERY well paid, which is what people don't forget. And I think the problem most people have with him being a coach is a) he has no coaching experience, so is a bit of an unknown quantity and b) are we in a position to be giving coaching roles + wages to guys just because they're an ex captain and long term player?
  20. I didn't say I hated him and also didn't criticise him for being paid. Most people would probably do the same thing in his shoes. Just saying that to think they were being loyal is wrong in my opinion.
  21. Not sure what his wages were before or after we went down the divisions but like I said, I'm sure his "wage cut" would be a lot more than he would get elsewhere for a player of his age/ability.
  22. But the players that left most likely went for more or similar money. Jig couldn't have got anywhere close to the money he was getting here. To think he stayed to be loyal is a little naive I think. If he could've got more money somewhere else I have no doubt he would've jumped ship along with the rest. If we learned anything from the past few years, it's that there's no loyalty in football. Even if you're a fan of the club apparently.
