  1. All done better than us with their respective teams and resources. Who would you suggest?
  2. Saw him on Sky. Completely out of his depth and saying what he thinks he should say as opposed to what he feels in his gut. Been reading “Press Conferences For Dummies” However, he will learn from this and grow as a coach but every day he’s here is a day we’re not moving forward. I think they’re giving him the rest of the season as promised but I expect that once our interest in the cup ends and the last meaningful league fixture has been played, he’ll be asked to clear his desk next day. Still hope for Clarke, Ross or Potter/Reid
  3. I’m thinking about next season by which time we should have recruited at least two decent centre backs. Assuming Alves and Cardoso don’t feature, we’ve really only got Bates and Wilson. I still see McCrorie as a ball winner although I’ve no doubt he’ll end up at CB. Alongside him we have Dorrans, Holt, Docherty, Jack, Murphy and Candieas so I don’t think midfield is our priority. Two quality CBs, a Moultesque striker and make the Cummings, Martin and Murphy deals permanent. A good manager and that squad would win the league.
  4. If you’re going with 3-4-3, Id swap John for Murphy, push Murphy forward and put McCrorie in for Dorrans at the base of a flat diamond. He will be a great CB and captain one day but we need him in midfield now.
  5. McCrorie is our best midfield tackler and we need to stop thinking about him as a CB (where he toiled in comparison to his time in the middle) and use him to help screen our defenders. Bates would be fine in a back three, possibly Martin too but a new CB would be needed with Aidan Wilson as cover. Fod Martin - Bates - New CB Tav - McCrorie - Jack/Docherty - John Candieas - Murphy Morelos No place for Dorrans or Cummings or, thankfully, Windass. Better sticking to : Fod Tav - Bates - Martin/new CB - John McCrorie Docherty - Dorrans Murphy Cummings - Morelos Candieas and Jack on the bench
  6. Likeness between Davie Provan (the good one) and Lee Wallace is amazing. Wee Willie Henderson back right.
  7. That is definitely Bud. Doesn’t mean he was the scorer, might just have been on the line or followed it in. But that is Johnston, no doubt
  8. Yep, Alex Forsyth and young Kenny Black at the bottom
  9. Can’t agree. If you gave this squad for a full season to Walter Smith, Steve Clarke or Neil Lennon, they’d match celtic all the way. in Tav, Fod, Morelos, McCrorie, Candieas, John and Murphy there is the core of a good side. The problem is in the dugout.
  10. Vennegoor of Hesselink?
  11. Still does my head in that the thought of unrest from us terrifies the authorities (in the event that a taig win against us seals it) on the basis that scum supporters lost the plot 19 years ago while we were partying and blameless. They lump us together when it suits yet they give the scum different treatment when it suits too. The restraint shown by us at Hampden against the demented spoon burners and at Fir Park against an unrestrained and unchallenged home mob baying and trying to provoke was something for all bears to be proud of. I certainly wouldn’t want to be there to see them clinch a title but an unjustified expectation that we will suddenly “get medieval on their ass” (copyright @ Marcellus Wallace) is based on the inaccurate assumption we’re as bad as them.
  12. Better with Alan Partridge...
  13. The only other person it’s like is Gordon Smith but I don’t know if he and Denny ever played in the same team. Deffo not Fyfe though.
  14. His only attribute for the position is that he has the desired number of limbs.
  15. Anyone ever seen the footage of Sir Walter scoring for United (I think) and then pulling his leg up to kiss the foot that scored? Searched for it many times and now beginning to think it was a dream...
  16. Murty has blown his chance. He knows it and, more importantly, the players know it and it is now showing in performances. I still believe that our best XI, properly prepared and set up, are as good as any in this league including the scum. The board must be thinking there’s no point in revolution at this stage and to let Murty take us to the end of the season but I really hope they have someone poised to start work ASAP after our final meaningful game.
  17. Throw McCrorie straight in, throw Dorrans on after an hour and throw Rossiter on to a stretcher after the warm up?
  18. Good to hear although sometimes their actions suggest the message didn’t get through
  19. Good story, well told. From such humble beginnings, a great worldwide family grew, separated often by thousands of miles but sharing the same goals as The Gallant Pioneers. Would be good if the men in our boardroom today were sat down and made to understand where we came from, the place our club holds in so many hearts, the good fortune they have to be in the positions they hold and, above all, the opportunity they have to restore this great club to its rightful dominant position
  20. That seems an entirely reasonable proposition ? Seconded. Motion carried
