broxi51 48
it was a bizarre signing at the time anyway. It hasn't worked out so far.Even though i wasn't chuffed at the signing in the first place, not every signing will work out no matter how much you know about that particular player. Look down south and how much they blow on players that end up as failures at those particular clubs.Look at the millions squandered at liverpool especially the keane fiasco, the italian cripple who replaced alsono, sold arbeloa for 2m and replaced him with g johnson for 17m crazy stuffAs long as we get the majority of signing rights and don't break the bank again with failures i'll be happy. docspiderman 1,262
"RANGERS yesterday made their move to snap up James Beattie from Stoke - but warned the Premiership club they'll have to help subsidise the deal. The SPL champions are prepared to pay as much as £1.25million to land the 32-year-old from the Potters but their limited budget cannot stretch enough to accomdate Beattie's bumper £35,000-a-week wage deal at the Britannia Stadium.Beattie arrived in Glasgow yesterday to be given a VIP tour of Ibrox and Murray Park. The former England hitman met chief executive Martin Bain and also held talks with manager Walter Smith as he weighs up his future following bitter a fall-out with City boss Tony Pulis.Beattie has been told he is surplus to requirements under Pulis. But so far Stoke have said they are unwilling to pay up the remainder of his contract - that still has a year to run - in order to ease the way for his switch to Rangers. Now three-way talks are ongoing involving Bain, Stoke and Beattie's representatives in an attempt to reach agreement, with Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce waiting in the wings if no deal can be done.A source close to the deal last night told Record Sport: "James was impressed and seems excited about this opportunity."Rangers have made it clear they are prepared to pay a substantial transfer fee but the feeling is Stoke will now need to be a little bit more flexible. Right now the best option is Rangers but Stoke may have to give the player a percentage of the transfer fee to make it happen."The situation is similar to that of Smith's other main target, Nikica Jelavic, who is demanding a pay-off from Rapid Vienna before agreeing to complete a £4m move. The Croat, 24, stands to increase his current £3000-a-week wages to £15k in Scotland. But he'd earn more than double that sum if Rapid pay up."From the Daily Record in August; any truth in the report is anyone's guess.
