The Ibrox boss said that stories in recent days about an imminent arrival are wide of the mark.Several forwards have been linked with a move to Glasgow in the wake of Kenny Miller’s transfer to Bursaspor last week. Smith accepted that losing his top goalscorer meant that it was inevitable people would speculate on a possible replacement.“We've lost one player and part of the situation now is balancing how much it's going to cost to get us one or maybe two players,” the manager told Rangers’ official website."That's what we have to look at. We've been looking over things but so far nothing has come up that would interest us. Therefore, we are as we are just now."There was no speculation and then when Kenny went we had a situation where everyone started speculating. That happens and it's a natural part of football.”Smith is already on record as saying that permanent signings would be difficult to conclude due to financial constraints but that he was hopeful of bringing in one or two new faces, most likely on loan. The manager said that he would continue to search but that it may be that he would not land any new signings before the transfer window closes next week."We'll just wait and see who we can get,” he added. ”People are free to speculate and we will continue to work on getting someone we'd hope will help us in the second half of the season."I don't know if or when we will be able to get somebody in or not. The January window is never an easy one in which to bring in any player."I would hope we can find something to our liking which is available to us in the next week or so. If not, we'll go with the group we've got."
