Its because he is a good player and captain and shows 100% commitment.NJo he's captain becausew he is the best and most experienced player and it would be a slight to him not to be captain, but where is the evidence, any evidence that he is a good captain, thatn he makes players play better. There is not a shred of evidence.I don't question his ability, his own personal commitment and effort but he ain't a leader of men, and he is danger of presiding over a really barren spell as captain.
