Schalke's loss could be our gain...

For anyone not watching the Schalke-Man Utd game, the German goalie Manuel Neuer is having an absolute blinder of a half, it would be 4 or 5-0 for Man Utd were it not for this guy.

More relevantly, it's nice timing for anyone scouting for a goalkeeper look towards Germany and Schalke and away from Scotland and Allan McGregor.

Isn't Neuer Germanys no.1?

He'll be worth double what McGregor is purely on the basis that Schalke can afford not to let him go on the cheap.

I'm sure any club or manager with half a brain cell looking for a keeper would have been watching neuer for a long time .

He's also refused to sign an extension with schalke recently , so it looks a given that he'll be off this summer .

As Man Utd, Real and Barca are all 'guaranteed' to get straight into next year's CL through their league positions, the slot kept aside for this year's winners will not be required (now that Schalke are going out).

So the champions of Scotland (which will be Rangers) enter at CHQ3 rather than Q2 - meaning 2 qualifying rounds before the groups, rather than 3.

Good result for us (if we win the league). Don't fancy the risk in having to play a few qualifiers, the first of which there is no Europa parachute if we were to slip up.
