mrwin 393 Posted September 6, 2012 Share Posted September 6, 2012 HUNTSMANS CLOSE hasn’t fulfilled his potential yet but he looks to have a lot of ability and might be a shade of value in the 6f maiden at Haydock today (3.05). He shaped like a certain future winner on his debut over 7f at Yarmouth, and indeed looked sure to win that day for much of the race, touching 1.01 in running but just overhauled by a more experienced rival. He was left in the Group Two Richmond Stakes at Goodwood at the five-day stage, an indication of the speed he has presumably shown at home as well as at Yarmouth, but contested the 6f maiden instead, where he disappointed, not finding much; he probably expended too much energy both in the preliminaries and during the race that day – he’s a very keen sort – and his chance today will probably depend on how well he settles, but he gives the impression he has the ability to be above average if he does so (still holds two Group One entries) and perhaps today he can fulfil his potential.
