Potdog 228
Rangers boss Ally McCoist admits he would be happy to let David Weir move on if the defender wants to leave.Weir recently admitted that he may have to quit Ibrox if he fails to break into the Rangers starting line-up.The veteran stopper has been unable to force his way into McCoist's first XI since recovering from a long-term hamstring problem. The 41-year-old found himself on the bench again for the midweek Old Firm defeat to Celtic and McCoist can understand Weir's frustration and will not stand in his way if he wants to leave."I haven't spoken to Davie about January but would not have a problem if he wants to go," McCoist told the Sunday Mail."He hasn't indicated that yet but if he did I think he has earned the right."http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/7404838/Gers-open-to-Weir-exit

BlueSuedeSambas 56,663
Fantatic servant to the club. It's really dissapointing that his career with us will probably end after six months of sitting on the sidelines when it could have ended with him lifting the SPL trophy last May. Zappa6995 3,808
Seems like Ally hasn't spoken to many of our players recently.Anyway Good Luck to Davie Weir wherever he ends up or whatever he wants to do,conducted himself with great dignity and was every inch a Rangers Captain. Marco Negri's Beard 1,423
An absolute legend and a shining example to young footballers. 41 and still desperate to play football that he wants to get a wee loan deal out of here. Fair play big fella

gunslinger 270
What does that line mean ?? - He has earned the right to leave the Club ?? he's earned the right to a free transfer.
Gregor Stevens Fan Club 42
he's earned the right to a free transfer.Yeh, what does that mean ?? that we won't be putting a value on his head, if anyone would seriously pay money for him. Creampuff 22,630
Yeh, what does that mean ?? that we won't be putting a value on his head, if anyone would seriously pay money for him.The point is that we could stand in his way and tell him he can't leave. We're saying that if he wants to go, we won't stand in his way. SirWalterSmithLegend 206
A stupid re-signing and a waste of a first team wage since the summer.
RangersMedia 35,962
I think it's become pretty clear that some players were kept on to try and ease the transition of Ally from assistant to manager. Should never have been given another contract, should have left us after lifting the title in May!
dan_ger 1,454
Don't really feel it has negatively affected his reputation as a top Rangers player/captain. He agreed to stay on to assist the club when it was thought he would be regularly required. Top man and a great servant

WilliamFyfe 1,438
I'd be disapointed to see him leave without leaving on a high
SirWalterSmithLegend 206
Need him off the wage bill asap.
ForeverBlue_Since91 2,895
Why did McCoist re sign weir again and not play him? Thats Weir Healy and Kerker he's gave new deals to and not played them. Along with his signings that he signed and not played. Matt McKay Bedoya & Ortiz. If you look at McCoist isn't helping us with his stupid signings and giving players new deals because he likes them. Durrant too, whats the point in Murray and Bomber? What have they done? The penny finally dropping with fans?Every wasted wage adds up.
garycassidy1802 37
I think Weir was a smart re-signing tbh, everyone wanted him to stay, and who was to know Boca and Goian would have been as good as they are? Also what if one got injured? Weir is a great replacement. But if he wants to leave and still play regularly, a lot of respect should be shown to him, model professional. Davie2909 21
IMO Weir going would free up a reasonable amount of wages for a new signing
