Skol 401
Doesn't sound very good. Emergency surgery presumably to drain an intracerebral haemorrhage. Potentially a very grave prognosis. They do get good, immediate care though these guys. I'm sure I was told there is an anaesthetist/critical care specialist in the safety car. calio 688
Tragic, will have to wait to hear the details of how he recieved the injury to really comment whether it was preventable, but serious questions are going to be asked over numerous decisions today.Terrible shame for the lad, wish him all the best. ready1873 3,902
From what we can gather he aqua-planed and hit the crane which was there to move Sutil's car.Supposedly there should be an announcement soon.

LegendofCoop 17,486
It's a long time since I was into F1. However, I'm sure it was standard practice for all race courses to have cranes BEHIND the tyre walls to lifted stricken cars. Has this changed? Why was there a big feck off tractor on a run off area at an obviously dangerous part of the track?
AyeReadyStu 70
Footage of Bianchi's accident After watching that it's amazing he's still alive. He appeared to hit the 45 degree sloped section at the back of the JCB, if he'd have hit the side or gone under the JCB, he wouldn't have stood a chance. JamieD 19,187
Why the fuck is the green flag waving?Should sue the FIA for millions. Judging by that footage he's astonishingly lucky to be alive. He's lucky not to have been decapitated, actually.

I'm not so sure that his head didn't connect with the JCB by the looks of it. I'm presuming he's ducked as much as he could, but his car virtually goes right under the back end. Just look at how high the JCB goes....almost the same height as the car it's self.As you say.....he's lucky to be alive. Hopefully he goes on to make a full recovery. LegendofCoop 17,486
It really does look like the cockpit passes right under it I know. Nowt much makes me shudder these days, but by fuck that sent a chill down my spine.I still don't know why the tractor/jcb was on that side of the tyre wall. Sutil's car was right next to it, so it could easily have been lifted over the wall from the safe side.
ready1873 3,902
Really like the look of this Sochi circuit. Very similar looking to Valencia.Mercedes far ahead as per, McLaren have surprisingly looked quick so far too. Should be an exciting race on this track. ready1873 3,902
Luca Di Montezemolo says Alonso will indeed leave Ferrari at the end of the season, as expected. As much as I like Alonso, I wouldn't mind if he left for a year and came back after letting other things develop. Of course a potential seat at McLaren could be interesting given their new Honda partnership.

Rankin1873 69
Does that not mean that other teams have the option of putting out a third car? Or would that only apply to next season?
Blue Atheist 178
I don't think teams can currently put out a third car.
Blue Atheist 178
Qualifying this weekend will be 4 cars out in Q1, 4 cars out in Q2 and 10 cars through to Q3.
ready1873 3,902
C'mon Nico!!!Last week was pretty underwhelming, I think he's gave up really. Hamilton has showed more over the course of the season but I'd rather Nico won it.
