Doesn't sound very good. Emergency surgery presumably to drain an intracerebral haemorrhage. Potentially a very grave prognosis.

They do get good, immediate care though these guys. I'm sure I was told there is an anaesthetist/critical care specialist in the safety car.

Tragic, will have to wait to hear the details of how he recieved the injury to really comment whether it was preventable, but serious questions are going to be asked over numerous decisions today.

Terrible shame for the lad, wish him all the best.

Footage of Bianchi's accident

http://gfycat.com/Hi...blueredtopzebra

After watching that it's amazing he's still alive. He appeared to hit the 45 degree sloped section at the back of the JCB, if he'd have hit the side or gone under the JCB, he wouldn't have stood a chance.

Holy fuck. I'm not so sure that his head didn't connect with the JCB by the looks of it. I'm presuming he's ducked as much as he could, but his car virtually goes right under the back end. Just look at how high the JCB goes....almost the same height as the car it's self.

As you say.....he's lucky to be alive. Hopefully he goes on to make a full recovery.

It really does look like the cockpit passes right under it :anguish:

:( I know. Nowt much makes me shudder these days, but by fuck that sent a chill down my spine.

I still don't know why the tractor/jcb was on that side of the tyre wall. Sutil's car was right next to it, so it could easily have been lifted over the wall from the safe side.

Luca Di Montezemolo says Alonso will indeed leave Ferrari at the end of the season, as expected.

As much as I like Alonso, I wouldn't mind if he left for a year and came back after letting other things develop. Of course a potential seat at McLaren could be interesting given their new Honda partnership.
